How to properly care for plastic windows
In the world of modern technologies, plastic windows are not a luxury, but a full-fledged element of the interior. If you have just installed new PVC windows or have been their owner for a long time, then useful tips will come in handy that will extend the life of plastic windows. We figure out how to properly care for modern plastic windows.
Windows must be washed periodically, ideally every 3-4 months. However, it all depends on the season and the area: for example, in a city, near a noisy highway, windows get dirty faster. And although the procedure for cleaning windows is simple, there are a few things to keep in mind.
For cleaning plastic windows, ordinary detergents or plastic care products, which are abundantly offered by household chemical stores, are suitable. Apply the cleaning solution to the frame with a spray bottle or a soft cloth, leave it on for a few minutes and then wipe it off with a clean soft cloth. It is very easy to remove dust from a smooth plastic surface – just wipe it with a sponge. Do not use products containing abrasive materials, acids and other aggressive substances to clean plastic windows: this can damage the snow-white plastic surface of the profile or leave marks on the glass.
Seals are an important part of the window structure, thanks to which the room is reliably protected from drafts, showers and other adverse weather conditions. They also need periodic maintenance with special products containing glycerin or silicone, which can be purchased from, for example, an auto parts store.
The windows are equipped with fittings: these elements allow the sash to open and close easily and easily. For the care of fittings, experts recommend using products that do not destroy the corrosion protection. Twice a year, when changing seasons, it is necessary to lubricate all moving parts with oil that does not contain acids or resins.

It is important to remember that plastic windows are highly airtight: it is due to this property that dust, noise and foreign odors do not penetrate into the room. But this advantage has a downside: in the room, especially in the kitchen or bathroom, moisture can accumulate, which remains on the glass unit, and the windows themselves fog up. To avoid this, it is necessary to regularly ventilate the room, as well as to clean the special drainage channels in the window profile from dirt.
In addition, if new windows have been installed in the apartment, remove the protective film from the plastic profile immediately after installation. Otherwise, under the influence of ultraviolet light, it literally sticks to the profile, after which it will be difficult to remove it and only with the help of special means.
