How to properly brew herbal tea for colds
Противопоказания
It is important to know that not all herbal teas are suitable for people with asthma or allergies, as they can cause an adverse reaction in the body. Children should not be given herbal teas until at least 8 months of age.
In addition, some infusions can cause insomnia. For example, mint tea is not recommended to drink at night, as it has a stimulating effect.
Hibiscus is prohibited for urolithiasis or gallstone diseases, for people suffering from diathesis, as well as for gastritis, ulcers and pregnancy.
Raspberry and oregano leaves are strictly contraindicated for pregnant women – they can cause miscarriage or premature birth.
All by the rules
The surest way to brew is to pour cold water over the herbs and bring to a boil. Thus, all useful trace elements are preserved in their original form. You can also pour boiled water and let it brew for 7-10 minutes.
It is important to pay attention to the fact that herbal teas should be served and stored after brewing in porcelain and enamel dishes, since they maintain the required thermal regime for a long time, which contributes to the disclosure of all the nutrients and useful substances of herbal tea.
Glassware for herbal tea is not suitable as it cools quickly. It can only be used if it is a special heat-resistant glass that can be heated by a candle under the base of the kettle. You can also brew teas in a thermos, but remember that the high temperature stays in the thermos for too long, which can lead to the destruction of nutrients.
