Chaga is a birch fungus that has a destructive effect on a tree, but is beneficial for the human body. You can find chaga on other trees, but only the one growing on birches has healing properties. The fungus is common in almost all regions where birch grows, with the exception of only the southernmost and northern territories.
You can collect chaga all year round, but usually this is done in late autumn and winter, when there are no leaves on the trunks and the fungus is easier to spot. The main thing is that the tree is alive and its age does not exceed 50 years. For medicinal purposes, the middle of the mushroom is used, removing the upper and lower layers.
