How to plant a phalaenopsis baby
The orchid is a rather wayward plant that needs care and attention. Processes are rarely formed on it, which can be planted into separate flowers, but if this happened and the baby appeared, then you need to very carefully and carefully separate it, observing the following recommendations.
How to plant a phalaenopsis baby
The main condition for the separation of the baby from the mother plant is the presence of an individual root system in the process not shorter than 4-5 cm. Only in this case the seedling will take root well and bloom. Photos of phalaenopsis babies are presented below.
Phalaenopsis babies must acquire their own roots before being transplanted separately from the mother plant.
Phalaenopsis babies are separated and planted under the following conditions.
- Prepare a suitable container. Transparent pots are suitable for an orchid, the diameter for one separated child should not exceed 8-10 cm. It is filled with moss and small fragments of tree bark or foam.
- The baby is cut off with a part of the stem so that at the place of their contact there is at least 1-1,5 cm of the stem.
- After cutting, all damaged areas are dried in the open air for at least 30-60 minutes and processed. Ground cinnamon or activated carbon is suitable for processing.
- The plant is placed in a container shallowly so that the roots are freely located throughout the pot.
- If, after backfilling the tree bark or foam, part of the roots remained above the surface of the soil, then they need to be covered with sphagnum moss. It is impossible to tamp the root system, it is very fragile: it can be easily damaged.
- After 2-3 days, the transplanted plant needs to be watered.
- Further watering is carried out as the soil dries up, but at least 2-3 times a week.
Babies are formed only on faded orchids, cut to the level of the upper dormant bud.
Conditions under which babies appear
Not all plants can boast of having children. The main conditions, the observance of which is guaranteed to lead to the formation of processes.
- Timely, sufficient watering of the mother plant.
- Good lighting without direct sunlight.
- High room humidity.
- The temperature is at least 28 degrees.
The period during which a sufficient root system and its own foliage are formed on the sprout is at least 5-7 months. Do not rush to cut a baby that is not yet ready for transplantation.
Reproduction of an orchid is a simple process, it only requires patience and accuracy. It is necessary to wait for the moment when the young plant can exist on its own, take root and grow outside the mother’s peduncle. The further separation and landing process does not require much effort.
