How to persevere in New Year’s resolutions? – Dietetics – Articles |

We start implementing New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of January. The list of goals set is usually very long. Unfortunately, with time, the motivation becomes weaker and we abandon New Year’s intentions after a short time. Research shows that the longest time in New Year’s resolutions is the end of the first quarter of the year. What can we do to prevent this from happening?

What are soreness and what do they depend on?

Where is the cause?

If this is another year in which the motivation to change ends in January, it is worth considering what could be the reason for this. Analyze in detail your existing provisions and how to implement them, and then take a look at what could be missing from them. Maybe it was a lack of faith in your abilities, a lack of determination or self-discipline? A common cause is also setting goals that are impossible to achieve, such as the loss of 10 kilos in a month. A careful analysis will therefore prevent you from making the same mistakes again.

Too many tasks and no plan to implement

The list of New Year’s resolutions should be short and contain only our priorities. Looking at it, we will not feel overwhelmed by the large number of tasks, and at the same time we will focus only on what is really important. Listing your decisions is not enough. The most important element is a detailed implementation plan. It’s a good idea to break it down into small, easy-to-follow steps. If we want to persevere in our resolve, we should also give ourselves small rewards for our next achievements. A reward in the form of going to a concert of your favorite band or a relaxing visit to a beautician will encourage you to continue in the complex decisions.

Quality, not quantity

The tasks should be organized chronologically, starting with those that are the most important and we want to implement them as soon as possible. At the beginning, let’s try to set a time that will take us to complete the first two or three points on the list. Let’s successively choose those tasks, the performance of which will bring us the most benefits. The method of small steps will also allow you to extend the time to implement individual provisions and avoid being overwhelmed with their excess in the first months of the new year.

New hobby

Since you decide to deal with unnecessary kilograms, you must become familiar with healthy eating. But don’t take it in terms of a painful science. It can become your new passion. Currently, a whole range of books, culinary blogs and workshops are available, from which you can draw new ideas on how to cook tasty, simple and healthy.

Check your weight once a week

It is not necessary to check your weight more than once a week. If we take measurements more often, at different times, between meals and in different outfits, the results are not accurate, which affects the willingness to act. Schedule one day a week for regular measurements. Perform them in the morning, on an empty stomach, after the toilet, and in light clothing. This will allow you to closely monitor your progress.

Motivation

Doubt will certainly arise more than once on the way to the goal. In such situations, it is always worth remembering the main reason why we decided to make changes and the benefits of continuing to pursue them. To maintain motivation at a high level, the support of a dietitian, trainer, relatives or other people who have set a similar goal for themselves may also be helpful.
