So how do you get rid of the wireworm permanently? There are several methods for this:

- Digging should be carried out. In autumn, it is necessary to dig deep enough, by 20-25 cm. In winter, small digging will be enough. Such preventive measures help to eliminate the beetles in large numbers.
- Don’t forget about liming. After all, this procedure is able to lower the acidity of the soil. You can use not only lime, but also eggshells, chalk.
- Do not let the area become overgrown with weeds. Thoroughly get rid of wheatgrass, euphorbia, and pigs.
- Apply mineral fertilizers. The nitrogen species are especially frightening to the wireworm. Use them to combat it.
- When planting, the wells must be watered with a manganese solution (5 g of potassium permanganate per liter). A 10 liter bucket is enough for 25 holes.
- Walnut leaves also help. They are used in the fall before digging, scattering them in a thin layer. In a couple of years the wireworm will be gone.
- There is also a special industrial preparation. It is called “Bazudin”. Only use it in accordance with the instructions.
- Plant legumes in areas heavily infested with larvae. The wireworm hates them.
