How to paint glass at home
To paint transparent material, special compounds are used that can provide tight adhesion to a smooth surface. When buying paint from a store, make sure it is glass-compatible.
What paint to paint the glass to get a matte effect? It is recommended to use acrylic compounds. They lend themselves well to tinting, do not deteriorate under the influence of sunlight. To make the surface glossy, it is better to choose polyurethane paints. They are fast drying and transparent.
Krski can be made independently:
- White – a mixture of white clay (20 g) and 80 g of silicate glue. Achieve uniformity and apply to glass – it will adhere perfectly. To make color compositions at home, add fabric dyes to the mass.
- Black color – 20 g each of printing black and charcoal and 60 g of glue. The composition must be thoroughly mixed and filtered.
The creamy consistency of the mixture is considered optimal. It must be applied in an even thin layer. It is better to check the finished product on a test piece of glass.
The painting technology can be broken down into several stages:
- Preparation.
The surface to be painted must be thoroughly washed and degreased with acetone. Use special cleaners that will not stain or smudge the transparent material. The remains of the product are removed with a microfiber cloth.
For painting, it is recommended that the air temperature is not higher than 18 degrees. Place the material horizontally and shine the light on it to monitor the quality of the work.
- Directly coloring.
Apply the paint in a thin layer (no more than 120 microns) using a roller, brush or spray.
- Drying.
Painted glass dries at a temperature of 20 to 80 degrees. After half an hour, the paint will stop sticking, after three days the material will be ready for use. If you are going to store it, lay out the layers with paper sheets.
