How to paint eggs for Easter
Eggs – a symbol of new life – are one of the main attributes of Easter. Beautiful and bright, they decorate the festive table. You can paint eggs in different ways.
This method does not require additional costs, the color of the eggs is from light yellow to deep orange.
A day before staining the husk from 8-10 bulbs (the more of it, the more intense the color will turn out), pour water (2-3 glasses) and let it brew. Put the infusion on the stove, heat and boil for 20-30 minutes. Spoon the eggs, one at a time, into the boiling pot. After 5-7 minutes, transfer the boiled and colored eggs to cold water. If the color turns out to be pale, you can leave the eggs in the cooled broth for another 10-15 minutes until the desired shade appears.
Do you want the eggs to be patterned? Before dipping them into the onion broth, wrap them with lace fabric, wind each thread or braid, glue strips of paper or small stencil pictures (so that they do not come off during cooking, wrap the egg with nylon).
In a decoction of vegetables or spices
Many vegetables and spices produce a rich color. And if you cook them in a decoction, and put eggs in it for a few minutes, they will turn out bright and beautiful. Beets will color the eggs in a pale pink to bright burgundy color. Spinach produces a bright green color. A decoction to which turmeric or saffron is added (1,5 tsp per liter of water) will give a bright orange color. If you boil eggs in a decoction of coffee, they will turn brown; a decoction of red cabbage will make them sky blue.
We prepare the broth as follows: add vinegar to a container with cold water (a tablespoon per liter of water), put the product (vegetables need to be chopped or grated) and boil for 20-40 minutes, cool and let it brew for an hour. We put the eggs in the broth, heat, bring to a boil, after 5-7 minutes take out and fill with cold water.
Using food colors, you can get a great variety of colors and shades, but it is important to follow the instructions for use of the paint. Eggs need to be boiled, cooled and dried. Dilute the paint (each color has its own bowl and spoon), dip the egg into the solution, twist it in the bowl with a spoon, remove it and put it on a napkin. By the way, one egg can be painted in different colors: dip it in the paint not completely, but, for example, by one third. Important: we dry one color, only then we apply another. You will get a “striped” egg if you stick strips of tape or adhesive plaster on the shell, which must be removed after staining.
If you have a beautiful bright fabric that sheds, cut it into small pieces, wrap the eggs in them, and tie the edges with thread. Place in cold salted water, bring to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes. Transfer the boiled eggs to a bowl of water and cool, only then remove the cloth. Grease dry eggs with vegetable oil. By the way, keep in mind that the dyes used for the fabric are not food-grade.
You can use bright woolen, silk threads or floss. We wrap the eggs with them (let your imagination run wild, lay the threads, as the subconscious mind tells you). Then we put them in a saucepan with water (do not forget to add vinegar), wait until it boils, and cook for 5-7 minutes. Do not forget to remove the threads from the finished egg.
Beautiful and colorful stickers are available in every store. It is easy and simple to use them: boil an egg, remove it from the water, cool it, then put a sticker on it and put it in water for a few seconds. Take out with a spoon and put in a bowl of cold water.
– remove the eggs from the refrigerator and leave at room temperature for two hours (warmed up, they will not burst during cooking);
– wash the eggs in warm water, dry and wipe each one with alcohol or vodka (any paint will lay down smoothly and beautifully on a degreased surface);
– put a tablespoon of salt in the water for boiling eggs (even if the shell bursts in hot water, the egg will not “flow”);
– after staining the eggs, wipe them with a napkin moistened with vegetable oil – they will become shiny.
