How to paint a house outside with paint
The easiest way to renovate the facade of a country house is to paint it with a suitable paint. In order for the result of your work to please the eye for many years, it is important to know how to paint a house correctly, our simple tips will help you with this.
How durable and even the new coating will be depends on the correct preparation of the walls. Before you paint your house:
Clean the walls of your home from dirt and old coating residues – you can do this with a car pressure washer or a stiff metal brush. If the previous layer of paint holds well, you do not need to remove it. It’s easy to check the strength of the old paint layer: stick a piece of transparent tape on the wall and tear off; if the paint remains on the tape, it will have to be removed. This can be done mechanically – with a metal spatula or using solvents.
If there are foci of mold on the surface of the walls, they must be cleaned and treated with special fungicidal solutions.
Examine the walls for damage: fill cracks and gouges with putty or plaster.
Treat the walls with a special primer. Wooden walls are additionally treated with antiparasitic solutions. The primer will improve the adhesion of the paint to the surface and significantly reduce its consumption.
After all the procedures, before painting the house outside, the walls must be completely dried, this will take one to two weeks.
How to paint a house with paint?
To paint the walls of the house outside, choose special paints for facade work – they are more durable and better tolerate temperature changes. Buy paint with a margin of about 10% of the estimated quantity, the approximate area in square meters is indicated on the paint package.
Only small outbuildings can be painted with a brush; for larger work, it is better to use rollers with a telescopic handle or a spray gun.
Coloring should be done in dry, warm weather.
Start painting the walls from the corners; it is better to paint the wall in one step so that no paint transitions are noticeable. If necessary, apply the paint in two layers: the second layer can be applied only after the first one has completely dried.
The period for which the paint dries completely is indicated on its packaging, as a rule, it is 24-48 hours. To make the coating perfectly even, it is better to put the paint not in one dense layer, but in two or three thin ones.
