How to paint a dresser in unusual ways

The following simple painting options are suitable for those who find ordinary plain furniture boring:

  • two-tone painting;
  • lace;
  • chest of drawers in decoupage style.

It is very easy to paint a dresser in two or more colors. Follow all the steps above, but use masking tape when applying paint. This will ensure that the colors will fit evenly and will not mix with each other.

To recreate the lace pattern on the dresser, you will need a large piece of lace fabric and two paint colors. Complete all preparation steps and apply the first color. When it’s completely dry, pull the lace tightly over the dresser and secure it. On top of the lace, apply a second paint color. Do not remove the fabric from the surface until the paint is completely dry, so as not to smudge the pattern.

Decoupage is a fashionable technique nowadays that allows you to decorate objects using clippings. This technique does not require any special creative skills, but the patterns will look complex and intricate.

First, prepare the chest of drawers and cover it with a layer of light (preferably white) paint. At a craft store, purchase special decoupage napkins with the desired pattern or pattern. Carefully cut out the drawings, apply glue to them and attach to the dresser. Cover the item with a layer of varnish.

By the same principle, you can paste over a chest of drawers with pieces of newspaper. This will create a retro-style piece of furniture.

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try to create patterns on furniture, choose unusual colors. If something goes wrong, you can always remove the bad paint coat and start over.
