I welcome you to my blog! How often have you had doubts? Agree, because there are a number of questions that cannot be answered immediately. They make you think, analyze all the pros and cons before making an important decision. And how many opportunities were missed due to long hesitation? Therefore, we can safely say that for a person the most terrible enemy is doubt.
What is doubt?
We all know the word «doubt». We face this feeling when we are on the edge. It overcomes us for one reason or another, as soon as we find ourselves between the familiar and the unknown.
Let’s say you seem to want to experience new sensations. But then all sorts of excuses arise in your head, a feeling of fear appears, for which your mind comes up with all sorts of excuses so that you do not leave your comfort zone.
In psychology, there is no exact definition of the concept of «doubt». It is worth noting that this is also a philosophical term. Therefore, we can say that it is a psychological state that arises as a result of reflection. In other words, it is uncertainty about reality or correctness. Doubt reflects the attitude of a person or any other thinking creature to reality.
In philosophy there is a direction «skepticism». Those who adhere to it are called skeptics. In principle, the thinking of these people is dominated by the creed: «Question everything.» But if you stick to this belief constantly, you can miss an important part of life, killing your time thinking.
Often doubts are our traitors. They make life gray and measured, not letting new experience, aspirations into it, and do not allow the most daring dreams to come true.
Why do doubts arise?
There are many reasons for internal fluctuations in the decision-making process. They can touch literally every area of your life, whether it be work, study or personal relationships. But the most important of them is the fear of making a mistake.
Very often, doubts overcome us in the domestic sphere, for example, in the kitchen while preparing a particular dish. They may intensify if we cook it for the first time. As a rule, doubts in the domestic sphere are insignificant, so we quickly make the right decision in our opinion.
But if we have a serious issue before us, whether it be health, finances, or relationships, we seek help and advice to calm our worries.
The agony of creativity is another reason for the author’s insecurity. Especially if he is just starting his path as a creator.
Why is it difficult to make a decision?
We are so arranged that uncertainty overcomes every human being standing at a crossroads before a choice. But it is important to remember that there has never been, does not exist and will never exist a perfectly correct solution. What seems right to us is foolishness to others. And, as you know, truth is a relative concept. Everyone sees their own truth.
Of course, we can ask for advice and do what is expected of us. We can take action at our own peril and risk. But the worst thing is to miss the opportunity to make your choice.
Since childhood, kids, faced with a choice, hear from their parents: «Think for yourself / yourself.» This is how we are taught from early childhood to overcome doubts and believe in ourselves.
But with age, our faith disappears somewhere. And lucky the one who will carry it through life.
But what about others? How to get rid of overwhelming doubts? I answer these questions below.
How to believe in yourself?
Think about it, how often does it happen that you make a plan of action, and then start to correct it, or even retreat altogether? Your thoughts in this situation are like waves: they will surge, then roll back. And you start to hesitate.
The first thing that is needed in this situation is a strong and clear motivation. State your goal and its importance to you personally. Then your decision will be beyond reasonable excuses.
The following are ways to help overcome insecurity:
- Get rid of stereotypes: everything happens just the way it should; you need to try the most unexpected options.
- Change anxious thoughts into positive ones: if worries arise, set yourself up to deal with them.
- Embrace Doubt: Manage uncertainty by analyzing its cause.
- Become an active position: act contrary to fear. As they say, it is better to regret what you have done than what you missed the opportunity to do.
- Analyze everything that happens:
a) find the problem
b) determine the way of behavior;
c) take the necessary measures.
It is also worth remembering that if you have strong convictions, then no doubts will bring you down the path to the goal.
