On the one hand, it is not very correct to mix business and everyday life, but on the other hand, not a single residential interior can do without a computer desk. How to equip a comfortable home office so that it does not spoil the appearance of the room?
Idea number 1. Transparent business
Glass structures are probably one of the most aesthetic and practical ways to hide your workplace. Thin matte fabrics almost do not eat up space and at the same time are durable and easy to clean. They will hide art clutter and business papers on your desk from prying eyes. But at the same time, it will become clear to guests that not all your leisure time is spent in an easy chair in front of the TV.
Corner glass shelves very roomy. They are easy to make to order. And in the assortment of many stores there are special brackets for attaching shelves to the wall – both the simplest, in the form of pins, and more intricate.
Before installing the doors, it is necessary to carefully align the walls and fix the strips to which the hinges will subsequently be screwed. A curtain rod with recessed lighting can be made from thick furniture board or lighter timber and MDF construction.
Curtains help to refine and soften the living room environment. Behind the smart drapery, like behind a theatrical backstage, the “director’s” workplace is hidden. This is definitely the cheapest zoning technique. All you need is an additional piece of fabric and a couple of meters of flexible cornice, which can be used as a piece of aluminum tube. Changing the scenery is also easy: just sew new curtains and repaint the walls.
Aluminum profiled cornices are bent vertically (for arches) and horizontally (in bay windows), but they are only suitable for light fabrics – heavy curtains will not hold on to them. Bend radius horizontally – not less than 10 cm. Cost of 1 lin. m – from 200 rubles.
In this case, a minimum of equipment is involved: there is neither a scanner nor a printer, and the role of a workstation is played by a laptop, which takes up very little space on the tabletop. But papers and reference books are quite spacious on the shelves and shelves.
Idea number 3. All hands on deck!
It’s not easy to endure our winter. Little sun, cold or slush – in a word, depressive weather. The tastefully played nautical theme will dispel the sadness. One of the central elements of the composition is a wardrobe with a secret, with its doors reminiscent of the entrance to a ship’s cabin. Wooden lattice panels are especially expressive. Together with a blue stripe on the wall and a wooden handrail under the shelf, this piece of furniture creates the image of, if not a cruise ship’s cabin, then certainly an apartment in a seaside resort.
Doors with lattice or type Venetian blinds can be bought at a construction supermarket or made to order. A finished unpainted sash with dimensions of 2013 × 394 mm will cost about 650 rubles. Painted twice as expensive, but also looks much more respectable. Pay attention to the ceiling of the cabinet – the plank skirting gives it additional solidity.
In conditions of a lack of space, the keyboard and mouse pad are best placed on sliding shelves. And then there will be enough space on the main tabletop for books, a printer and business papers.
At the first glance at this living room, it is difficult to imagine that there is some kind of secret hidden in it. On the contrary, the reddish-orange color of the walls and light finishes convince the owners of the openness and hospitality. But upon closer inspection, several wall panels turn out to be doors leading to a secret work area. Such a surprise!
This solution is interesting in that it does not reduce the volume of the room. A fairly low shelf leaves the corner free. This makes the room look more spacious.
To completely transform the living room into a home office, you need to open the doors wide, roll out the cabinet with the system unit and move the chair. It will only take a couple of minutes. And you can accept clients or show your friends your photo works right on your computer.
Making such panels and doors requires the skill of a carpenter. But if you slightly change their design, you can restrict yourself to furniture boards made of solid wood or laminated chipboard and two types of hinges – conventional and for accordion doors.
