How to meditate properly at home
Meditation is not immersion in a trance or oblivion, but, on the contrary, full wakefulness, but with a consciousness cleared of thoughts.
We are always in a hurry somewhere, running, not noticing anything around. Modern people absolutely do not know how to listen to their inner “I”, which often shouts in a voice that is not its own: “The strength is running out! You can’t go on like this! ” Everyday hustle and bustle and stress exhaust our subconscious. We think about something all the time. Even during sleep, our brain does not stop working. Meditation helps you relax, find peace and rejuvenate. Morning meditation tidies up the mind, allows you to feel a surge of energy, evening meditation relieves fatigue and tension, promotes restful sleep.
In order to master such an ancient spiritual practice as meditation, you do not need to sit in the lotus position all day. Many people think that meditation is difficult. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, the thought arises that this practice cannot be mastered. And, in fact, to nothing. So it’s not mine. In fact, everyone can learn the technique of meditation. To achieve results, regular practice is required. Know that you are not wasting your time. You are on the right track. Be patient, breathe and watch.
The home environment is familiar and does not require adaptation from you, which, of course, plays into your hands. Ideally, no one should interfere with you, so it is best to start meditating when you are alone at home. Set the phone to silent mode so that an unexpected call does not suddenly rip you and the meditation process out. Turn off the TV. You can draw the curtains. Be alone with yourself.
Chirping birds, the sound of rain or special meditative mantras. Quietly, unobtrusively. You can try playing one audio recording today and another next time. The main thing is to listen to yourself. Perhaps you enjoy meditating to the sound of the wind, or perhaps the ideal option for you is complete silence.
It is better to choose a sitting position, as lying down you may well fall asleep during the meditation process. You can sit in the lotus position. If you can’t take such a pose, it’s okay, it’s not at all necessary. Sit on a chair with a pillow or roller under your back. Keep your back straight, without bending forward or backward. The main condition is that you should be comfortable. Place your hands on your knees and relax your muscles. Our goal is to distract ourselves from the heap of thoughts and try to concentrate on the object we have chosen. The most common and understandable technique for beginners is concentration on the breath.
You don’t need to deliberately take in and out deeper breaths than you normally would. Breathe the way you always breathe. Don’t control your breathing, just watch your sensations. Feel the air fill your lungs. Imagine how, with each inhalation, you let love into yourself, and with the exhalation, you part with the negativity. In the future, you will be able to meditate in this way, standing at a bus stop, on the way to work – yes, almost everywhere!
Meditation stabilizes the nervous system, normalizes blood pressure, relieves muscle tension, and speeds up metabolism. There are no contraindications to meditation, on the contrary, only benefits can be derived from it. A five-minute daily meditation will be much more beneficial than an hour-long meditation done once a month. It will calm your mind and help you cope with any stressful situations without nerves.
How to stop the thought process
No way! It can be said that this is an impossible task. It is impossible to completely disconnect from thoughts, they will still appear. But understand that meditation will be of no use if you just sit with your eyes closed, continuing to think about yours. Try to observe the thoughts without thinking them over, while concentrating on the breath. Whenever you feel that you have pondered a thought, calmly release it and return to meditation. Your whole being should be focused on the breathing process. Do not forget that the whole point of meditation lies in the fact that the mind forgets about the past, stops worrying about the future, but simply concentrates on the present. Dissolve in the present moment, there is only here and now.
