There are many things in our homes that we find useful, but which actually make us clean more and create an uncomfortable atmosphere.
1. Pull-out sofa
There is no reason to try to save space by buying a sofa like this instead of a regular bed. Guests do not come as often. And the need to turn the sofa into bed takes energy and degrades the quality of sleep. If you are going to purchase new furniture, then buy a standard bed with a good mattress that will last you much longer.
2. Package collection
We often don’t throw away packages because they might be useful to us. But in the end, it leads to clutter in the closets. It is best to keep the bags in a small box and limit the number to how many can fit. Buy a few large shopping bags and keep one in your tote bag or in your car. Instead of piling up a huge number of packages, use the ones you already have a few times.
3. Many boxes
Of course, it is very convenient to store things in boxes. However, sometimes there are so many of them that we no longer remember what we put there. As a result, we often waste precious time searching. Can’t get rid of – at least write on all the boxes what is stored in them,
4. Overloaded hanger in the hallway
It is the entrance hall that creates the first impression of your home. If it is stuffed with clothes, then the whole apartment looks sloppy. At the same time, it takes more and more time to find the right jacket, and things often end up on the floor. In order not to overload the hanger, just buy another one – a smaller one! What could be easier! And for bags, nail a hook near the front door.
5. Scattered shoes
If you do not put shoes and boots in place every time, then soon a mess will reign in the hallway. In addition, if you do not have special shoe furniture, then in winter and autumn there will be a lot of dirt in the corridor, which will gradually spread to other rooms and make you clean more often. There are special stands on which shoes are stored vertically. And to improve ventilation, you can put a bag of lavender on one of the shelves.
6. Huge mirrors in the rooms
Large mirrors in bedrooms appear there along with wardrobes or wardrobes. Thanks to them, the small room looks much larger. However, they require regular cleaning, and if there is a lot of sunlight in the room, then dust is very visible on them. Better to order a wardrobe with a mirror on the inner door, and to make the room seem more spacious, match the furniture to the color of the walls.
7. Large mirror in the bathroom
If the mirror starts right above the sink, then it quickly becomes covered with water spots. It is not very convenient to clean it several times a day, and you do not like the reflection in it at all. Therefore, it is better to choose a small mirror and hang it 15-20 cm above the sink.
8. Light wallpaper in the hallway
The vibrant colors of the wallpaper actually make the hallway look bigger. However, they also cause many problems. Light walls, especially in those places where people take off their shoes and undress, become gray and dirty, and the hallway looks untidy. In addition, the wallpaper is very difficult to wash and keep clean. You will have to spend a lot of time on this, so it may be better to replace the wallpaper with a darker one from the beginning.
9. Open shelves
This is one of the most popular pieces of furniture in the kitchen. Unfortunately, there is a lot of dust in the kitchen, which is often mixed with grease, so it is difficult to clean it off. The shelves and items on them must be cleaned regularly, otherwise this dirt will become visible. Therefore, closed cabinets with doors painted in bright colors are best suited for the kitchen, which visually increase the space.
10. Banquet (sliding) tables
Many have transforming tables that can be made longer for the arrival of guests. However, guests do not come as often, and the tables still take up a lot of space and become dusty and dirty. Do you need this bulky piece of furniture used every six months on special occasions? It is better to buy a round table at which more guests can be seated.
11. Dark lampshades
They do not transmit light very well, so the room will always be a little dark. To solve this problem, you can buy the most powerful bulbs, but this will increase your electricity consumption and the corresponding bill size. It is best to change the color of the lampshade to a brighter one that transmits light well and makes the room cozy. And you don’t have to overpay for electricity.
12. Carpet flooring
Carpets, like standard carpets, have a short lifespan. If a stain appears on it, you will have to call specialists to get rid of it. If this fails, then you will either have to change the coating or get used to living with the stain. If you want to keep your floor warm, buy a regular rug. You can always wash it or buy a new one if necessary.
