How to make wheat vodka?
What is vodka for Russian nature – part of a cultural (sometimes not very) tradition, a drink that accompanies all significant events, which means that it is something symbolic and significant in itself. However, in real life, vodka is devoid of poetry and is nothing more than an intoxicating drink based on alcohol with a strength of at least 38 degrees.
Not trusting liquor stores and retailers, many residents of our country are starting their own home-made vodka. Someone simply dilutes alcohol to the desired degree with distilled water, and someone, observing numerous rules, makes wheat from grain.

It so happened that it is not customary to prepare vodka from wheat in small doses. Unprofitable and labor-intensive, even though the way to make vodka yourself is simple. You will need: – granulated sugar 1,5 kg, – wheat 5 kg, – yeast, – filtered water, – a capacity of 30 liters.
Fill 2/3 of the grains with water and leave for half an hour, remove husks and fine dry debris from the surface. Wash with clear potassium permanganate solution. Soak the grain in a large tub for 8-12 hours and cover with a thick cloth.
The soaked grain needs to be germinated, to do this, sprinkle it on trays in a layer of no more than 30 cm. Pour some water on top and cover with a thick wet cloth. Keep in a damp but warm place for up to 5 days, at home it can be a utility room or basement. Do not forget to add water a couple of times a day without removing the fabric. Pass the sprouted grains through a meat grinder.
Crush dry grain, pour the resulting mass with water in a ratio of 1: 4. Place the saucepan over low heat and simmer for 3-4 hours. After cooling the solution, mix it with the crushed malt.
For 10 liters of wort, you need to take 1,5 kg of crushed grain, 0,5 kg of malt and about 10 liters of water.
Dissolve 50 grams of dry yeast in sweetened water, let it dissolve and add to 10 liters of wort. Stir the mixture and pour into a bottle with a water seal or a rubber glove on the neck.
Leave in a cool, dark place for 8-10 days. The end of fermentation will be the clarification of the cloudy solution. It remains to distill the solution.
When choosing a device, give preference to what has a thermostat. Carry out the distillation at a temperature of 80 ° C, because at 78, ethyl alcohol boils. Note. that the light fractions boil at a lower temperature, so the first portion of the distillate must be collected. At 85 degrees and above, fusel oils sublime. Therefore, be especially careful about collecting the middle fraction.
The second distillation of vodka is needed solely to get rid of heavy impurities. The characteristic smell of moonshine will also go away with them.
You need to distill it twice, then filter it and add 10–10 tablets of activated carbon for every 20 liters of product. Strain again through several layers of gauze and leave the liquid at rest for a day. Then you just need to prepare a delicious snack.
