How to make trendy cheese tea

Everyone is used to drinking sweet tea. But a new trending drink that has become popular in Taiwan is breaking the habit. Just imagine – tea with cheese!

Cheese tea ( ) Is a drink that tastes like lemonade and consists of hot tea (classic green or fruity) topped with a thick layer of delicate cream cheese. In some cases, cream cheese is given a slightly sweet flavor, in others it is sprinkled with sea salt for a salty flavor.

In Taiwan, 4 types of such tea are prepared, but all of them are distinguished by a cap made of hammered milk. “Macchiato-like” – this is how this drink is characterized for its visual similarity to macchiato.

Experts say that if you drink cheese tea at the correct angle of 40 degrees, then the right amount of tea and cream cheese gets into your mouth, which makes the taste of the drink unforgettable.

The original recipe for this drink uses powdered cheese. But it is more often made from soft and natural fresh cream cheese. Often baristas do not stop there either, but experiment with hard types of cheese, and also use blue cheese.

The cheese base is whipped with hot milk until froth appears. After that, it is “covered” with pre-prepared tea. The taste of cheese in tea is subtle, barely perceptible, does not dominate the main taste of the tea.

Cheese tea can already be tasted in Singapore, New York, Hong Kong, London and other major cities. If it is not possible to fly to one of these wonderful cities for tea, you should prepare the drink yourself.
