Since yesterday, I can consider myself Dionysus – the god of parties. And all because on one of the boring evenings, friends decided to drop in on me, and our party was so boring that it was almost impossible to save it.
Then I managed to make a cocktail from improvised means, which won the hearts of the whole company. And the name of this magical drink is Whiskey Sour.

Why I decided to make an alcoholic drink myself
I chose it for a reason. First, it is an unchanging classic. Secondly, there was nothing else in the refrigerator, and drinking whiskey-Cola is too hackneyed.
This cocktail appeared in 1870 in the USA. Despite its specific ingredients, the taste of this drink is irresistible and is enjoyed by both men and women.
It just came in very handy, because not all women love tart and strong drinks.
Whiskey sour is made on bourbon, egg white, citric acid and sugar syrup, which makes it delicate and harmonious, as the sweet components compensate for the sourness.
When beaten, the egg white forms a foam that adds sophistication to the cocktail.
What ingredients are required
I am not a bartender at all, so I used ordinary dishes and even a sports shaker as inventory (may the coach forgive me). To prepare one cocktail we need:
- Chicken Egg – 1 pcs.
- Lemon or citric acid – 1 tsp.
- Sugar – 4 tsp.
- Water.
- Cup or glasses – 2 pcs.
- Bottle or sports shaker – 1 pc.
- Whiskey or bourbon – 40 g.
In order to choose the right alcohol for a cocktail, it is enough to rely on your preferences, but it turns out to be especially tasty on Jim Beam Apple (Jim Beam Apple, 1 rubles for 550 l).
I used what I found in the refrigerator – Jack Daniels (Jack Daniels, 1 rubles per 520 l) – and it turned out incredibly tasty.
Before you feel like a real bartender, fill 2 glasses or cups ¼ with water and put in the freezer for 15 minutes. If there is a special form for ice, then you can use it instead of one of the glasses.
Mix 4 teaspoons of sugar and 4 teaspoons of water, and then put on fire. You need to cook the mixture until it turns into a homogeneous transparent syrup. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise caramel will turn out instead of a cocktail.
If there is a lemon, then one teaspoon of acid is enough. I use dry acid, and just pour it into sugar syrup and stir. Now gently break the egg and separate the white from the yolk.
Cooking process: feel like a bartender
You can get the ice out of the freezer and start making a cocktail. If the water has been frozen in a cup, then lower the vessel under warm water to make it easier to remove it. We break the ice with a hammer or any heavy object and send it to the bottle.
Whiskey sour is made by the Shake method – shaking, mixing with a shaker. But, I’m sure that not everyone has bar stock gathering dust in their house, which is why improvised means are used. This method will allow you to mix the protein with the rest of the products.
Add protein, 40 g of whiskey or bourbon, sugar syrup and citric acid to a bottle or sports shaker. Close the lid and shake well.
Ice whips the protein and mixes the ingredients, resulting in an airy and tender foam. Now take a saucepan and pour into a frozen glass.
Due to the fact that water is initially frozen in it, a piece of ice will cool the drink, but will not interfere with the taste of the cocktail to open up.
What result did I get
Since this is a classic and simple cocktail, any dish can be served with it: smoked salmon, baked meat, game on fire, seafood salads, chocolate, muffins, fruits.
The combination of sour and sweet makes it possible to choose a snack to your taste, so as not to bother with cooking in the kitchen.
It took me 10 minutes to prepare such a cocktail, and we got a delicious drink. And after a while, all the guests wanted to try to make it on their own, which took time and added to their mood.
