How to make steam baths for your face

Everyone knows about the medicinal and cosmetic properties of the bath. For thousands of years people from different cultures from America to China have used steam to maintain healthy and youthful skin. But there are not always two or three hours to go through all the circles of the bath ritual. Steam baths for the face are less troublesome, but no less effective.

When preparing a steam bath, in 1,5 liters of boiling water, throw 1-2 tablespoons of a suitable herbal collection and 3-4 drops of essential oil. For dry skin, decoctions of mint, parsley, coltsfoot, rose petals are perfect. Of the essential oils, sandalwood, rosewood, chamomile, jasmine, geranium, orange are recommended – natural moisturizers and nourishing agents. Decoctions of wormwood, yarrow, St. John’s wort, chicory, chamomile, calendula, and horsetail have a beneficial effect on the condition of oily skin. From the variety of essential oils, it is better to choose the oil of bergamot, grapefruit, rosemary, patchouli, cloves, cedar, lemon balm, lemon – natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agents.

Before using the steam bath, you must cleanse your face. A small amount of nourishing cream can be applied to dry skin. Then lower your head over the vessel with the prepared broth, hold your face over the open steam for one minute so that the skin gets used to the temperature. Realizing that you do not experience discomfort, cover yourself with a towel so that it covers your head and the container with the broth. The duration of the procedure depends on the type of skin: with dry skin – 3 minutes, with normal skin – 5 minutes, with oily skin – 8-10 minutes.

After the time has elapsed, wash yourself with warm water, massaging your face with a terry mitten or towel. Oily skin can be rinsed with cold water with the addition of lemon juice to shrink pores. The steam bath perfectly prepares the face for mechanical cleaning at home, improves the skin’s sensitivity to nutrients. Therefore, after the procedure, it is recommended to apply nourishing masks, the effectiveness of their impact will increase several times.

Steam baths for the face are best done in the evening, before going to bed. A night cream applied to prepared and cleansed skin, combined with a revitalizing sleep, will give the best results. It is recommended to pamper your face with steam procedures once every two weeks for oily or normal skin and once a month for dry skin.

Please Note! It should be noted that steam baths are contraindicated with pronounced vascular network on the face and with very porous skin. It is also not recommended for people with sensitive skin, suffering from bronchial asthma, cardiovascular or oncological diseases.
