Onions are constantly used in cooking: they are needed for preparing salads, first and second courses. But pickled onions will become an independent snack, tasty and healthy. It can also be added to salads, which will benefit greatly from this ingredient.
Pickled onions for meat dishes and herring
You will need:
– onion – 0,5 kg; – water – 250 ml; – table or apple vinegar – 70 ml; – sugar – 50 g; – salt – 10 g.
Cut the onion into thin rings and place in a glass jar. To prepare the marinade, add sugar, salt to the water and bring the solution to a boil. Pour in the vinegar. When the marinade begins to boil, pour it over a jar of onions and close with a nylon lid. The onions can be consumed when the marinade has cooled. Store this snack in the refrigerator.
Asian style pickled onions
You will need:
– onion – 0,5 kg; – rice vinegar – 200 ml; – sugar – 4 tablespoons; – dry rose wine – 5 tablespoons; – vodka – 3 tablespoons.
It is better to use sake as vodka.
Pour boiling water over medium-sized peeled onions to remove the bitterness and place in a glass jar. Combine all the marinade ingredients, bring to a boil and pour the onions into the jar. After cooling, place the jar in a cool place for 1 hour. The finished onion takes on a pale pink color.
Marinated onions in Georgian
You will need:
– onions – 0,5 kg; – wine vinegar – 100 ml; – bay leaf – 2 pcs.; – coriander – 0,5 teaspoon; – cloves – 2-3 pcs .; – grated ginger – 1 teaspoon; – cinnamon – 0,5 teaspoon.
Cut the onion into thin rings and place in a glass or enamel bowl. Dissolve the vinegar with cold boiled water in a 1: 1 ratio, salt to taste, add spices and pour over the chopped onion. Soak the dishes with onions in a cold place for at least 3 hours.

– red onion – 0,5 kg; – vegetable oil – 0,5 cups; – garlic – 3 cloves; – table vinegar – 1 tablespoon; – sugar – 1 teaspoon; – salt; – coriander – 0,5 teaspoon; – ground pepper – 0,5 teaspoon.
Chop the peeled onion into rings and place in a glass or enamel bowl. Sprinkle the onion with sugar, crushed garlic, salt and spices to taste, cover with vegetable oil. Dissolve the vinegar in a glass of water, pour into a container with onions and mix everything thoroughly. Marinate for an hour in a cool place.
Onions marinated in lemon juice
You will need:
– onions – 2 heads; – lemon – 1 pc.; – vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon; – salt – 0,5 teaspoon; – sugar – 0,5 teaspoon; – ground allspice – 0,5 teaspoon; – water – 1/4 cup.
Onions, cut into thin rings, mix with allspice. Remove the zest from half of the lemon and grate it on a fine grater, and squeeze the juice from the lemon itself into a separate cup. Dissolve salt and sugar in hot water, then add lemon juice, zest and oil. Pour the marinade over the chopped onion and leave for 0,5-1 hour, then drain the excess liquid through a colander.
