How to make oil sterile?

Patients with skin lesions, as well as those who are deprived of movement, require special skin care. Special oils help to avoid or reduce the amount of diaper rash. They do not have to be bought at the pharmacy, they can be made at home and sterilized.

Skin diseases deprive a person of the most important protective barrier – the dermis, so the damaged layer has to be restored. The skin needs not only to be nourished and saturated with fats, but also to create an artificial protective layer on it, which will prevent microorganisms from developing and relieve diaper rash. Doctors recommend using powders and oils.

However, it is believed that powders are already a relic, microparticles with frequent use cause allergic reactions, and the compositions themselves in most cases dry out an already weakened organ – the skin.

The oil used for the treatment, treatment of wounds, as well as for the skin of newborns, must be sterile.

What kind of oil to choose, the doctor will advise, it may be:

  • flaxseed oil, which is used to relieve pain or treat stomach inflammation
  • sea buckthorn is an excellent restorative remedy for burns, which also stimulates skin regeneration
  • ledum, which helps with sinusitis
  • burdock, restoring blood circulation
  • juniper, which helps to normalize tissue nutrition and is known to girls as one of the wonderful remedies in the fight against cellulite
  • ordinary sunflower, the most common in the complex of skin care products for patients

Sunflower oil is rough, so use olive oil whenever possible.

Any oil must be of good quality. Regardless of whether you bought the composition in a pharmacy, store, made it yourself, be sure to pour the liquid into a transparent glass before processing it and leave it for half an hour in a dark place. If sediment appears in the glass, simply drain the oil, leaving the dregs at the bottom. If flakes are found in the composition, refrain from using.

Pour the oil into a jar, tie the gauze on top. You cannot close the lid. Dip into a saucepan filled with warm water, after placing on the bottom dense “blown” cardboard (you can cut out of any box) or a cork circle (used as a glass holder). Place the structure on fire and bring water to a boil in it. It is not necessary to boil water for a long time, it is important that the oil warms up evenly with a high temperature, so 5–7 minutes is enough.

After placing a jar of oil in water, be sure to note that the water should be 1 cm above the oil level.

The sterilized oil is well stored, so the leftovers can be poured into a heated vial, closed with a lid and left in the refrigerator until the next time you care for a sick person or care for a baby.

Do not heat oil in a microwave oven. Your container will burst, and the oil will simply deteriorate due to a complex chemical reaction that destroys the bonds of molecules.
