How to make jam healthier?

Reading time – 3 minutes.

Let’s say right away that the most healthy way is to eat the berries raw. And no jam with fresh berries can ever be compared. But here’s the thing: fruits and berries are available fresh for only a few weeks a year, and you want to enjoy their taste all year round and around the clock. In winter, it is completely out of season, and to snatch at least a grain of summer vitamins is for happiness.

First of all, it is for this that jam is cooked. Let’s make an exception for raspberry jam and say about it separately: raspberry jam is medicinal, so it is harvested as a medicine, and in this case, you should be especially careful when cooking it.

  1. The most useful way is five-minute jam. The berries do not boil for a long time, but they are brought to a boil several times in syrup. With this method, the berries retain their maximum benefit. And they often remain intact, do not fall apart.
  2. Diet method – and using agar-agar. The amount of sugar is reduced, and agar-agar acts as a preservative, which greatly thickens the jam. Ideal for jams.
  3. The easiest way is to simply boil the berries in syrup to the required consistency.

But of course, no matter how useful the jam is, it is very important that it is tasty and makes up for the lack of endorphins in the body. And also consider the rest of the rules for cooking jam for the winter.
