To make your own french fries at home, as well as in eateries and restaurants, you need to know some secrets:
- Choose potatoes that are even, elongated and approximately the same size.
- Before frying, peeled and chopped potatoes are best blanched in warm water.
- After frying, the potatoes should be laid out on a paper towel to remove excess fat.
- If you bought frozen sliced potatoes, you do not need to defrost them before frying. Otherwise, defrosted potatoes will turn out soft and fat.
- Also, store-bought potatoes are best stored in the freezer.
- If you need to cook literally a handful of potatoes, then feel free to reduce the cooking time, otherwise the potatoes will come out dry and tough.
