How to make delicious bourbon lemonade

For the first time I tried such a drink at a party and was delighted. It was served to me as a lemonade, but since it contains alcohol, it can also be considered a cocktail. The taste is excellent, refreshing. Naturally, I immediately asked for the recipe. I make this lemonade for summer outdoor parties – guests are delighted with the unusual taste.

What will you need?

The whole secret is that lemons are grilled, which is why they are saturated with the aroma of smoke. I had no idea that roasted lemons have such a rich flavor that goes well with bourbon. To make lemonade with smoke, we need:

  • granulated sugar – 120 g;
  • lemons – 16 pieces;
  • honey – 0,5 cups;
  • rosemary – 2 sprigs;
  • bourbon – 250 ml;
  • ice.

How to cook

The grill is best preheated. My citrus fruits, dry and cut in half, then generously sprinkle the pulp with sugar. Place cut side down on a hot grill. For a bright aroma, I place a rosemary branch nearby, or you can throw it on the coals. Lemon goes well with this plant and takes on an even richer flavor.

I bake the lemons for 5-7 minutes, until the sugar begins to caramelize. The seductive smell that envelops everything around is rosemary. I shift the lemons into a separate bowl and wait for them to cool.

I pour water into a saucepan or pan, add honey, sugar and a rosemary branch. I put the container on the wire rack, mix everything and heat until the ingredients are completely dissolved. Then I set the pan aside to cool.

I squeeze the juice from the cooled citruses into a large decanter. I add chilled sugar-honey syrup, a glass of bourbon and ice cubes to it. I mix everything and pour into glasses. For beauty, I add a circle of fresh lemon.

My verdict

Such a drink will not only quench your thirst and refresh in the heat, but also give pleasure from the taste. Baked lemon with sugar gives off smoke. I think if you cook on an electric grill, it will turn out no worse, but there will be more caramel flavor and you will not be able to achieve the aroma of a fire.

Despite the fact that the composition contains bourbon, the cocktail does not cause a hangover and discomfort the next day.

This is a great refreshing drink for the summer, especially when poured into chilled glasses. For family evenings, I prepare a lot of this lemonade and divide it into two parts. I add bourbon to one – for adults, and I serve the children as a regular refreshing drink, which they really like.
