How to make Chinese pu-erh tea tablets. Video
The unusual taste and aroma of this tea attract only true gourmets. Puerh invigorates, tones, increases efficiency, helps to cleanse the body. However, only properly prepared pu-erh is good for health.
The ideal tea is different for everyone, it depends on personal preferences. Someone likes real Chinese pu-erh only strong, others prefer to feel only a slight aftertaste. Ultimately, however, the taste and aroma of the tea in your cup depends on a number of conditions. Making tea correctly is a whole science. Here, the properties of water, and the amount of brewing, and the temperature, and the brewing time, and, of course, the quality of the tea itself are important.
How to prepare tea for brewing
In order to brew pu-erh, it is better to use a glass or porcelain teapot. Clay will absorb the strong aroma of the tea and store it for a couple of weeks, which can spoil the taste of other teas. Ideally, it is better to have a separate teapot for the pu-erh. To prepare a portion of tea for one person, 5 grams of tea leaves are enough, this is one and a half teaspoon of dry tea. This infusion amount is based on a glass of water. The required amount of tea from the pressed piece must be carefully separated. It is important to keep the tea leaves intact, as this also affects the taste of the tea. It is good to use a special pu-erh knife.
The pressed pu-erh must be peeled off layer by layer. A large amount of broken leaves will make the tea bitter.
The ideal temperature for brewing water depends on the “age” and the type of tea itself. For young varieties, 80–90 ° C is sufficient; more mature varieties should be filled with water at a temperature of 85–95 ° C; the oldest varieties require almost boiling water – 98 ° C. If the taste and aroma of the tea do not seem to you strong enough, try brewing the tea with hotter water next time. By the way, only filtered water should be used to make this tea. There are too many impurities in the tap, which can spoil the taste of true pu-erh. The taste of tea brewed with tap water is duller.
1. The tea must be rinsed first. Put the tea leaves in the kettle, fill with water of the “correct” temperature and drain after 20 seconds. Let the wet tea leaves cool for about a minute and only then refill with water. This simple manipulation, firstly, removes dust from the tea, and secondly, it contributes to a better disclosure of the aroma.
In order to brew pu-erh correctly, preheat the dishes before putting tea in them.
2. After you have filled the tea with water, it must be infused for about 3 minutes. Then the tea must be poured into another container, leaving only the tea leaves in the teapot. Now you can drink tea! By the way, it is convenient to use teapots with a strainer inside, in this case, you just need to take out the infusion strainer. If you leave the tea leaves in the teapot and continue to infuse, the drink will turn out to be too bitter. However, over the time of brewing, you need to experiment, choosing the best expression of taste and aroma for you. In this way, pu-erh can be brewed up to 10 times. Over time, you will learn to choose your favorite pu-erh variety.
Enjoy your tea!
