The easiest way to make a scratching post at home?
For a domestic cat, a stable post made of wood will be enough to use it to grind down its claws. However, in this case, only birch and almost all conifers are suitable. The material chosen must be strong, healthy and straight-layered. A damp tree, aged in the shade, definitely cannot be a reliable scratching post for an animal.

What you can make a scratching post: create a structure
The base of the scratching post is treated with harmless PVA glue and furniture fabric is glued on top. A special spacer must be placed between this part and the post so that the animal does not feel the metal fasteners.
Next, you need to glue the winding to the post using PVA glue. Then the stove bench is installed, connecting it with screws to the trunk. Only after that they begin to paste over the cat’s resting place with furniture fabric.
If you have a purebred cat, you may not immediately figure out what to make a scratching post. Therefore, you need to observe the animal for some time in order to find out its preferences and character.
