Unfortunately, not every pharmacy has medical masks. But you can make several reusable dressings – both for yourself and for your loved ones.
The mask is one of the most popular virus protection tools. But now they are almost impossible to find in pharmacies due to high demand. However, it is quite easy to do it yourself – at home. Moreover, the mask will turn out to be even with a greater degree of protection than the usual ones from the pharmacy.
Method one
Take a heavy-duty cotton fabric and cut a 45 cm square. Fold the fabric in half.
Bend the edges and sew with a sewing machine or by hand.
Thread narrow elastic bands and tie them in a knot.
Method two: with an additional filter
Do the same manipulations as in the first paragraph.
Take cheesecloth and cut a square with a side of 45 cm. Fold it in half. Place a layer of cotton wool between the layers.
Combine the cotton layer with the gauze.
Fold over the edges and sew on the sides.
Also thread narrow elastic bands and tie them in a knot.
The third way: from napkins
Fold several tissue paper in a double layer.
Fold the accordion in the center.
Fasten with a stapler at the sides.
Use a stapler to attach the elastic bands as well.
Important!
Masks effectively protect against viruses only in conjunction with other preventive measures: regular hand rubbing with alcohol-based hand sanitizer or water and soap.
How to use a mask correctly
The product should fit snugly around your nose and mouth.
The mask must be put on with the white side inward and with a hard rib down (if any).
Important! In order not to infect yourself with the virus, remove the mask carefully and only by the strings. Throw away the disposable mask immediately, and the reusable mask should be washed thoroughly in hot water, dried and ironed with an iron.
The mask must be changed every two hours.
By the way
During the epidemic, WHO recommends:
refuse to shake hands when meeting,
avoid crowded places,
pay for purchases using plastic cards, if possible,
wash your hands regularly with hot water and soap for at least 20 seconds,
treat hands with an alcohol-based sanitizer for at least 20 seconds,
touch your face with your hands as little as possible.
But Naomi Campbell’s favorite method of protection against the virus – wearing rubber gloves everywhere – is considered by experts to be ineffective.
“You are more protected from COVID 19 when you are not wearing rubber gloves but washing your hands than when wearing gloves. The causative agent of the coronavirus infection can contaminate rubber gloves. By touching your face after that, you will transfer the virus from the surface of the gloves to your face and put yourself at risk of infection, ”the WHO website says.
