How to make a delicious and unusual drink from cheap cognac and ordinary chocolate: I share the recipe

Once a friend of mine who lives in Europe came to visit me. I decided to treat him with cognac of my own preparation, but, having served, as is customary with us, cognac with sweets, I found that the guest was extremely surprised.

He explained that he had never seen cognac served with sweets. And what did I do? Instead of a purchased bottle, I got my own, and even with chocolate cognac!

He was notably surprised, and even asked for a recipe. I share with you so that you can also surprise foreign (and not so) guests!

This story was sent by my longtime subscriber Denis B.

What you need for cooking

This cognac is not the most common, so I especially appreciate it when I want to surprise a sophisticated guest. Mild taste and simplicity make the recipe exclusive. You need to buy:

  • Cognac (one cocktail takes 50 ml);
  • Chocolate 200 gr;
  • Sugar (not necessary for dairy, for dark 1-2 tablespoons);
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp. a spoon;
  • Cube ice (optional)

Important! Chocolate is melted on the stove, mixed with sugar, then cooled to room temperature. If you do not have time for all these procedures, then it can be replaced with chocolate liqueur – the taste will not change much.

Preparation process and result

The cocktail is prepared within 2 minutes:

  1. Take a shaker and mix all the ingredients.
  2. Pour into a wide glass, add ice.

Chocolate cognac is ready to drink. Yes, yes, it’s that simple! Sometimes I arrange master classes for guests and mix everything in front of them to surprise them.

The taste depends on the chocolate you choose to add. I recommend choosing bitter – it will only emphasize the notes of cognac, but will not have a bad effect. Candy can be used.

Then the cognac should acquire a sweet hue, but you need to be careful – if you make a mistake, the cocktail will taste nasty, the alcohol will feel too strong. Sweets with dried fruits (prunes, cherries, dried apricots) or with nuts are suitable.

Important! We choose dark chocolate. White and milky are an appetizer for tea. Chocolate should not contain additives (citrus, mint, etc.). Buy bars with a high concentration of cocoa.

There should be a little chocolate – it is needed to dilute the taste of cognac, and not vice versa. As a result, you will get a soft drink, in which notes of alcohol are practically not felt. The smell of chocolate increases appetite, so be sure to serve cognac with a snack. In total in a cocktail 40 degrees.

What can be changed in the recipe

There is a completely different recipe for making chocolate cognac. For him we need:

  • 200 grams of dark chocolate;
  • 1,5 liters of vodka;
  • 1,5 cup of water;
  • A glass of sugar;
  • 100 grams of oak bark;
  • 5 grams of vanilla.

Recipe:

  1. Chocolate bars are ground on a fine grater and placed in a steam bath.
  2. Add vanillin to the mass and mix;
  3. When the chocolate is melted, pour vodka into the container – do not bring to a boil.
  4. Stir the drink and remove from heat.
  5. Let cool (to 35 degrees Celsius), pour into a bottle and refrigerate.
  6. Leave to infuse for 2 weeks.
  7. After 14 days, make sugar syrup: mix water and sugar, boil for 4-5 minutes (do not forget to skim off the foam).
  8. Cool the syrup and mix it with chocolate alcohol, add the bark there.
  9. Pour the mixture into a bottle and place in a dark place to infuse the drink (do not touch for a month).
  10. In a month you can get your chocolate cognac. Strain the drink through cheesecloth before drinking.

Important! Instead of vodka, you can take ready-made cognac from the store – then the proportions of sugar and chocolate are halved. Oak bark is not needed.

This recipe is more difficult than the first one. However, at the end you will get an even more unusual and sophisticated alcoholic drink. You can taste the taste already on the third day after preparation, but insisting will enhance the smell and feel – I recommend that you wait.

What is the cost of the resulting product

Cognac you can choose at your discretion. On average, 0,5 drink will cost 500 rubles.

Chocolate bar – 80 rubles. Lemon juice – 100 rubles. Preparation of several cocktails according to the first recipe for 600-700 rubles.

The cost of vodka is 300 rubles. 2 chocolate bars (200 grams) will cost you 160 rubles. Sugar and vanilla can be found in every kitchen. Cooking according to the recipe will cost you 460-500 rubles.

Chocolate cognac is an unusual drink that you will not find in stores. Cooking yourself is easy, but I rarely see it on the tables. Have you ever served them to guests?
