How to make a composition of fresh flowers and dried fruits with your own hands
A step-by-step master class on how to make a festive composition from fresh flowers and dried apples.
Compositions of fresh flowers
We need:
- branch of white eustoma,
- “Oasis” (floristic sponge for fresh flowers),
- plastic packaging film,
- aluminum wire of golden color,
- 10 rings of dried apples,
- white ostrich feather,
- a piece of light wallpaper with a floral pattern,
- 4 decorative beads,
- tools: knife, scissors and nippers, Titan glue.
- Cut off a rectangle measuring 30 by 45 cm from the wallpaper. We turn it up in the form of a “bag”. We fix the top edge with glue.
- We decorate the junction with an ostrich feather, putting it on glue.
- Place a white bead on the aluminum wire. To prevent it from falling off, we twist the tip of the wire into a small “snail”.
- We cut the wire with pliers (its total length will be half a meter). We introduce the free end of the wire into the base of the “bag” so that the bead is firmly pressed against the paper.
- We twist the free end of the wire in the same way (the wire is soft and it will not be difficult to bend it). Then we fold the resulting “shell” over the edge of our bag, as shown in the photo.
- We cut out a cylinder from a floral sponge that can fit inside our paper roll. And soak the “oasis” in a container of water. We wait until the sponge goes under the water on its own (do not drown it forcibly, otherwise the material will not get completely wet). After that we take out the “oasis” from the water and wrap it with plastic wrap to isolate the paper from dampness. The upper part of the “oasis” can be left unwrapped, especially if the film is dense: then it will be difficult to pierce it with the stem of the plant.
- Now let’s make an original decoration from dried apples and wire. To do this, we prick an apple circle on the wire, bend the metal into a curl, put on a bead, bend the wire again and put on a piece of apple again. Thus, we collect a small garland.
- When all the apples and beads are strung on the wire, we make the last securing curls along the edges of the “garland” and cut the wire with the help of nippers. The wire “legs” must remain long enough – about 15 cm, so that our “garland” can be well anchored in the “oasis”.
- We place a sponge wrapped in polyethylene in our paper bundle. The “oasis” must sit tightly enough in the “horn” so that it cannot fall out. We hide the excess film in the gaps between the edges of the bundle and the “oasis”.
- We bend our garland so that it forms a rim on the surface of the “horn”. We immerse the free ends of the wire to the very end in the “oasis” and fix it in it.
- Using a knife, carefully separate each eustoma flower from the stem. Further, placing the flowers evenly on the surface of the “horn”, carefully insert the flower stems into the “oasis”.
- Our festive bouquet is ready!
