How to make a bedroom
1. Children in a cage. This bedroom is decorated according to the principle of “combining the incompatible”: the technogenic “cage” creates an antithesis to the hand-made stucco molding on the ceiling, cold metal – to warm wood. The base of the bed is also metal. It is polished to a mirror finish, and the bed seems to float in the air.
2.Upside down. The roof of this attic slopes so low that it was unrealistic to put a normal bed there. I had to confine myself to a mattress in the Japanese manner. The ceiling was sheathed with wood – apparently, they thought that looking at its pattern was more interesting than contemplating a monochromatic painted surface. Perhaps this is so. But as a result, the room has become like a giant hamburger, in which a person is assigned the role of filling.
3. Consider for two. A bunk bed is a traditional solution for children. A wardrobe was added to the box – this made it possible to do without unnecessary furniture. To “dissolve” this massive structure in the interior, it was painted to match the color of the floor and walls. The result is a feeling of lightness and spaciousness.
4. Seventh heaven. Oriental-style interiors are characterized by warm natural colors. But the creators of this bedroom went against tradition and used different shades of blue. It is they who are responsible for the pacifying atmosphere prevailing in the room. It is especially pleasant here in hot summer – from the blue surfaces it blows cool. And chromotherapy experts claim that this color, like no other, promotes sound sleep!
5. Open around the clock. Surprisingly, one such bed can replace a whole set of rooms. This is a kind of fireplace room, a lounge area for parties, and a guest bedroom. The difference in floor level and the partition, which also serves as a headboard and a bookshelf, help isolate it from the kitchen.
6. Both yours and ours. The space under the bed should not be empty, because you can place a lot of useful things there! But sacrificing convenience, lifting the bed higher, higher and higher, is also not worth it. The authors of this interior have found a middle ground: the sleeping place is at a comfortable level for a person. At the same time, there was enough space under it to equip an entire pantry.
7. Self-deception. The black and white geometric pattern, covering one of the walls and “creeping” onto the ceiling, fulfills the same role that is usually assigned to the headboard and canopy. Painting helps to isolate the sleeping area and gives a sense of security. Let it be just an illusion, but how convincing!
8. Behind the glass. Thanks to the glass partition, the sun’s rays pouring from the window penetrate not only into the bedroom, but also into the adjacent living room. This is a great option for interiors where natural light is lacking. Well, if guests come to the house, blinds will help to hide the bed.
9. Bedtime stories. Books are not only a source of knowledge, but also a source of visual “noise” that is absolutely unacceptable in the bedroom. If you absolutely cannot sleep without printed publications, hide them in the lower tier, where they will not be an eyesore and violate the integrity of the interior. Such a hybrid of a library and a bed is also good in that it allows you to do without a bench at the foot and bedside tables, because extra furniture in the bedroom is also useless.
10. Material question. If the bedroom is decorated in a colonial style, you cannot do without a canopy. It was originally designed to protect against mosquitoes. Fortunately, these harmful insects are not found in our area. So do not wrap kilometers of fabric over the bed, which will collect tons of dust. Enough and a small piece of matter, which “covers” the bed, like an umbrella.
11. Techno style. The headboard of this bed and the bench at the foot of this bed are used in the most unexpected way: they have built-in speakers, stereo systems and other equipment. On the one hand, the designers of the interior cannot be denied inventiveness, but on the other hand … If you believe the doctors, sleeping near devices emitting electromagnetic waves is harmful to your health!
12. High spirits. You can sleep either on the bed or directly on the floor, as is customary in Japan. But there is also a compromise – to put the mattress on the podium. This will allow you to visually isolate the bedchamber (which is especially important if you live in an open-plan apartment). And at the same time it will reduce the likelihood of colds, because according to the laws of physics, warm air always rises up.
13. Full-cycle enterprise. You don’t have to get out of this room for weeks – it has everything you need for an autonomous life. This is a bedroom, and a bathroom (the bathtub is hidden behind the bed), and a living room, and even a storage of sports equipment. The deliberate negligence of the interior suggests that we are facing a temporary dwelling. The way it is: the photo shows one of the rooms of the Basico hotel in Mexico.
14.Always near. The bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom, and the partition between them is at the same time the head of the bed. The main advantages of this solution: simplicity, convenience and rational use of space.
15. Seven in the shops. Such a bedroom is a bit like a reserved seat carriage. As in a real train, there is a night light next to each “shelf”. A suitable solution for a guest house in the country or a nursery in the home of a large family!
16.Do not believe your eyes! Night is a time of illusion, so all kinds of “tricks” in the bedroom are welcome. In this interior, the head of the bed pretends to be a wardrobe with many small drawers, and the wall painting imitates fabric sewn with uneven stitches.
17. Back and forth. At night, this room serves as a bedroom, and during the day it becomes a full-fledged living room. The secret of the miraculous transformation lies in the podium, under which the bed is moved. Building such a structure will take time and money, but it will be worth it. Especially if you live in a one-room apartment and have to sleep on an uncomfortable pull-out couch.
18. Raising the rates. The desire to save space has taken the owner of this bedroom very far. Rather, high. When equipping such a bed, remember: the distance to the ceiling should be such that you can sit on the bed without the risk of getting a bump on the top of your head.
19.Take from the ceiling. Round beds require space: their width is one and a half times larger than that of conventional rectangular models. But how gorgeous they look! To play with the shape of the bed, the author of this interior made a recess in the ceiling of exactly the same diameter – it seems that the bed fell into the room directly from the sky.
20. Theater of one actor. The line between public and private areas is becoming more and more unstable – in this house, sliding doors are designed not so much to separate, but to unite two adjacent rooms. With their help, a whole performance was played out in the interior: spectacular doors in a dark edging are in no way inferior to a velvet curtain, and behind them is a snow-white bed. The main thing is not to stumble over the podium after looking at this beauty!
