When, instead of the expected tenderness after a shower, you have to wipe yourself with a stiff brush, it even becomes somehow offensive.
When purchased, it was as delicate as an angel’s wing. And after the first wash, the maximum – the second, it turned into a rough canvas, which, it seems, does not wipe, but scratches. And even fabric softener doesn’t help! But even the toughest towel can be saved and returned to angelic tenderness.
There are several reasons why your soft towel :
1. High water hardness. The more salts are contained in the composition of water, the more they are deposited on the fibers of the fabric in the form of crystals. Terry items become tough after washing like this.
2. Application of phosphate detergents. Here we get a vicious circle: in the composition of the powder, phosphates fight the hardness of the water, precipitating salts, and getting into the terry cloth, they make it rigid itself.
3. Wrong wash: without soaking, non-compliance with the recommended regime.
These rules are very simple and no additional gestures will be trumpeted.
1. Replace laundry detergent with liquid detergent. It does not clog lint and retains color.
2. When washing towels, always run the Extra Rinse mode. This will help to better wash away the remains of powder or washing liquid.
3. The delicate pile of terry is sensitive to mechanical stress, so when spinning, use the minimum number of revolutions.
4. The optimum washing temperature for bath accessories is no higher than 40 ° C.
5. It is better not to use rinse aid for washing terry. If you have such an individual need, then choose a brand with silicone.
It is also a good idea to soak the towels before washing. Make a solution: add a spoonful of ammonia per liter of water and leave the towels in it for an hour. Then you can wash.
How to make a towel soft after washing:
- do not wring out the terry by twisting, this will rub off the villi;
- do not dry near batteries and in the sun;
- ideal drying place – bathroom or tumble dryer;
- do not iron terry products;
- dry the products, straightening well, preferably on a horizontal surface.
No matter how hard the hostess tries, time takes its toll, and the soft terry becomes hard and unpleasant for the body. Bald spots appear, some of the threads come out. But even these towels can be reanimated.
- Place the towels in cool water overnight. This will help wash out the remaining detergent from them and restore elasticity to the villi.
- Steam dry towels. You can take a regular iron with this function. Guide them without touching the product. The waves of steam will raise the villi and return the fabric to a presentable look.
- Add some regular table salt to the powder. If this method did not help, then dilute it in water at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. for 1 liter of water. Use this rinse solution. Instead of salt, you can take soda.
These simple and affordable ways will return the terry cloth to its original properties.
