How to lose kilos in 10 days: personal experience on keto and intermittent fasting

And overeat like you’re not dieting at all?

A friend eats and does not get fat when you swell at the sight of a croissant? Hi, I am Olya, editor-in-chief of the Wday.ru website, and I have always been that same witch friend with a height of 183 cm and weighing 62 kg.

But they jinxed it, as if I’m telling you! 13 kilograms in 2 years, and this with an active lifestyle, is not gained by buns alone. They are filled with shawarma, chips, chocolates – and all this in one go, plus stress and emotional seizure. In total, we get not only fat sticking out over the jeans, but also a real heaviness when walking. How to get rid of it? Trips to the store for PP products end with chocolate bars, which means that you need to exclude stores altogether and eat air. Joke.

Before and after getting fat

I saw how my friend lost weight with the help of the Juicy Food ready-to-eat service, I decided that my topic was what they brought, so eat. I chose a keto diet of 1500 calories, gave myself 10 days to experiment, took measurements.

Weight – 72 kg.

Waist – 72 cm. 

Thigh circumference – 56 cm. 

The day before, I mentally prepared for the experiment: I ate sweets and fell ill with a pain in the stomach. In the morning, as usual, I drank a glass of water, made coffee and met the courier of Juicy Food. On the first day for breakfast, he brought a salmon omelet and a miracle discovery – a fermented mix of nuts. Life hack for a note – soak nuts for the night, this is a bomb! Literally half an hour after breakfast, dinner was also eaten, since according to the program there are three meals a day, and I am a fan of intermittent fasting in the 18/6 mode. That is, for me, breakfast is more important than dinner, so in the morning I eat as if not to myself and until lunch I keep vigorous. For lunch, by the way, there was a salad with feta cheese and green vegetables plus beef roast beef with grilled zucchini and kimchi sauce. After that I no longer thought about food, and, I must admit, it is very pleasant to watch a movie in the evening or read a book without crunching chips. The first day is done. 

For the first day I had successfully passed, I, like a circus horse, was waiting for “sugar” in the form of curd mousse with raspberries and nuts. Being at that moment a true guardian of healthy keto, I checked the composition, calmed down: instead of sugar, erythrol, it is possible. I “finished off” breakfast with lunch, which included a salad of artichokes, avocado and feta, barely stuffed shirataki noodles with turkey and rushed off to work, grabbing dinner for lunch. It included dishes that I marked as one hundred percent must cook after completing the experiment – salmon with broccoli and salad with wild mushrooms and gorgonzola. I felt great, but only until the evening. The refusal from sugar and carbohydrates was very sharp, so the pressure dropped, my head was a little dizzy. A sudden drop in blood sugar is like shifting the gearbox from speed five to first. It was necessary to give up gradually and in advance, and I will remind you that the day before the diet I did not regret sucrose for myself. 

The next morning the dizziness went away, and I was able to focus on my body, and it already felt the effect of the keto diet. The third day, I indifferently walked past the shops with all these ice creams and chocolates and got an unreal thrill from this. And the courier’s visit became a role-play for me: he is Santa Claus, I am a girl who behaved well the previous evening, and in the morning she received a refrigerator bag with food. “What did Santa Claus bring me today? Oh! Baked salmon salad with avocado, nori and asparagus! My favorite! Thank you, Grandpa! ” I did not specifically check the menu the next day in order to get a portion of endorphins in the morning and say to Santana Novikova: “Mmm … Delicious!” 

On the third day, a meat lunch and a fish dinner awaited me, which, of course, I finished before lunch. And everything would have gone well, but in the evening I was invited to the opening of the Caspian restaurant from the Ginza Project, where, in general, I behaved with dignity until they brought baklava. How could you refuse Azerbaijani baklava? There was no way. 

After dinner at the restaurant, I had to skip breakfast (remember about intermittent fasting!), So I honestly waited for lunch time, despite the “bun” in the form of a curd soufflé with coconut. I didn’t want a waist, like Vitaly’s cat, but I really couldn’t eat in the morning. This is the beauty of keto – after a while, you eat less food and fewer meals. The combination “breakfast-lunch” or “lunch-dinner” was enough for me, and this without any snacks. 

My first experience with keto last year was incredibly boring: apart from scrambled eggs for breakfast, I knew nothing else. For five days I tried so many dishes that I realized that you can sit on such a diet for a very long time and not repeat yourself. The main thing is dressing for dishes. Note: any greenery will turn into a salad if you season it with an interesting sauce. Pesto, yogurt mousse, chimichurri yogurt, tomato salsa with avocado and olives, walnut sesame sauce, kimchi sauce, curry, Asian sauce – this is not a complete list of what I have tried. Just listen: chicken breast escalope with truffle sauce … a song, right? Bravo to the cooks for interesting dressings, and God forbid me the strength and patience to cook them myself after the experiment. 

In the morning, a friend evaluated the results of a six-day diet at that time. We went together to the BMW AVILON Golf Cup 2021 golf tournament, where I was the only one in a skirt. I caught a cold, but everyone noted my legs – long and slender, and this is me at the very beginning of the journey, wait, we’ll meet in a month.

By the way, one more life hack: I have saved all the brochures with the description of the dishes, because then remembering the names of certain types of keto noodles is unrealistic. Plus, each dish has a BJU and composition, so in the future you can cook it yourself, mixing the ones you like. 

The Juicy Food chef kept up the spirit with his favorite seafood and fish: shrimp, tuna and avocado back made my day. Service kindly puts a tea bag in a set with appliances, and today I came across tea with chamomile – the very thing for a sore throat. Too bad honey is not keto. 

The next morning, my throat hurt even more, so I wanted something more sweet than ever. I had to feel sorry for the inner child, and I firmly decided that if the courier did not bring me sweets, I would go after him myself (not for the courier). Lucky! Coconut curd bars and almond panacotta saved me from the forbidden fruit. The “child” calmed down and cheerfully ate baked zucchini with Parmesan for lunch (a song!). It was as if there were no thoughts of chocolate. 

By the ninth day of keto, I made another conclusion: it is very easy to return to it. Despite the fact that I twice took the liberty of baklava at the opening of Caspian and tiramisu at the opening of the golf tournament, I returned without suffering to fermented nuts and salads. Portions of 150-200 g became large, despite the fact that before a carbohydrate meal I could eat a whole frying pan, and this, for a second, three plates!

On the last day of the experiment, instead of the usual refrigerator bag, the courier brought a package with containers. I was a little upset – I already imagined how my dad would be delighted with this for fishing. On the last day there was everything: Caesar keto salad with chicken breast, marbled beef, salmon, vegetables. Feast of the belly, not otherwise. The next morning I took measurements. Ta-ta-ta-taaa! 

Weight: 69,5 (-2,5 kg). 

Waist: 70,5 (-1,5 cm). 

Thigh circumference: 54,5 (-1,5 cm).

As a bonus – the condition of the skin has improved, it has stopped “pouring”. 

For 10 days with two unscheduled overeating, it seemed to me that this is a good result. Of course, not my ideal 62, but simple mathematical manipulations are enough to understand: you can really come to them in 3 weeks. So 3, 2, 1, new XNUMX week challenge, let’s go!
