It would seem that the answer is known: if we did not reach the goal, then we did not really want to. But maybe we just don’t know how and why we need to make efforts to make our desires come true?
Thinking that we should have done something differently in life, we spend on average more than two hours a week. We regret that we traveled a little, chose the wrong career, we live in a wrong way and not with the one we would like to… How to learn to fulfill your desires? In order not to experience such regrets, it is necessary to do some work.
1. Separate your desires from those of others. “I dream of being a doctor”, “I want to take care of the house and children”, “I want to get a scientific degree” – ask yourself, who says this? Whose desires are they really? If you live up to your parents’ expectations and hopes, and are essentially fulfilling their dreams, start looking for your own.
2. Remove contradictions. Many of our desires contradict each other. We want to build a career and at the same time enjoy the joys of a leisurely family life; we dream of leaving to live in another country and value our hometown, close ties with loved ones.
Evaluate what suits your inner needs best and prioritize. Because of the desire to keep up with everything at once and fulfill as many of your desires as possible, you risk missing out on the most important thing.
When you decide to make a dream come true, treat it like a serious project.
3. Think of what you want as inevitable. Research shows that as long as we do not perceive the future as an irreversible fact, as an event that is about to happen, we do not even think about taking concrete steps to implement it.
All that is required of us is to think in terms of days, not months or years, when and how to fulfill a desire. The inevitability of the task motivates to complete it.
4. Write a business plan. When you decide to make a dream come true, treat it like a serious project. Ask yourself questions:
- What is my motivation?
- Do I believe in achieving my goal?
- What is my specific plan?
- Am I willing to invest enough time and effort to achieve it?
- What obstacles will I encounter along the way to my goal?
- Whose support can I count on?
Decide what two or three steps you are ready to take towards your dream right now.
By the way, many wishes come true when we declare them out loud: sooner or later there is an assistant, adviser, a person with the necessary connections or knowledge, a support group, and our fantasy suddenly takes on real features.
5. Take action. If your dream is to be successful at what you love, remember the “10 hour rule” coined by psychologist Daniel Levitin: “No matter what field you’re in, it takes 10 hours to achieve mastery commensurate with being a world-class expert.” practices.”
If there is an obstacle in the form of money, time or knowledge on your way, decide what two or three steps you are ready to take towards your dream right now, while you are trying to find the necessary resources, and take action!
