How to keep warm in an apartment

We go to bask in the kitchen

If you constantly bake something, then you are incredibly lucky. Not in the sense that you can enjoy delicious food all day long, but in the sense that the heat from the oven can be used wisely. For example, immediately after cooking a dish, do not rush to slam the oven door. Let the stove cool down evenly and let the heat circulate and warm up the kitchen. Well, the rest of the apartment, respectively. Plus, by letting the oven cool down with the door open, you prevent excess moisture from forming, which can cause unpleasant odors and ruin your appliances. And so – you are warm, and the kitchen unit will last longer.

We implement the “warm floor” plan

We do not mean expensive structures that allow the floor to heat up in an instant and stay warm long enough. This is the case, but not in our budget option. Together with this system, it is quite possible to use an analogue of the economy class, namely, a thick carpet with a fluffy long pile. Experts assure that the thicker the air gap is, the better it will be able to retain heat. Therefore, with such a soft “heater” you will not freeze, even if you walk barefoot on it in winter.

Eliminate cracks in windows

Do you have gaps? You are incredibly lucky. And yet, examine the frames carefully, suddenly you missed something, from where it now comes through and blows cold. But the owners of old wooden frames will have to work hardest. First you need to find the cracks where it is blowing, then caulk them with a rag or regular newspaper and be sure to glue it on top with a special tape (sold in any hardware store and costs a penny). In sunny weather, you will need to open curtains wider to let in light and warmth, and in the dark it is better to draw up blackout curtains so that the heat does not go away too quickly.

Do not forget about the doors

Even if you have a brand new door, this does not mean that it does not let the cold into the apartment. If there are gaps, they need to be repaired (as in window frames), and for heightened effect (in order to certainly wait out the severe frosts), you can roll up a kind of rollers from old fabric or felt and carefully attach them at the places where the door adheres to the jambs. You can walk with the same special tape, which will look much more aesthetically pleasing.

We twist ourselves

There is such a handy thing as a thermostat, which allows you to regulate the heat, and, say, when you leave home for a long time, it reduces the degrees so that an empty apartment does not run dry. Or “turn on the heat” when you are in the apartment. This will help you get through the heating season without stress and huge bills.
