The coronavirus causes the disease known as COVID-19. It is a serious viral infection that causes atypical pneumonia. Although the spread of the virus can be easily prevented, the number of cases is increasing day by day at an alarming rate. The coronavirus belongs to the Coronaveridae family. It has a lipid (fatty) membrane which, due to its characteristic structures, resembles a crown. Such a structure makes the coronavirus very easy to destroy with the use of commonly known chemicals, i.e. soap and disinfectants.

The coronavirus leads to the development of the disease referred to as COVID-19. It is a serious respiratory infection with an atypical course. The main symptoms are fever, cough, weakness, muscle aches and shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, so some patients need to be connected to a ventilator. Some patients also develop gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

In extreme cases, COVID-19 can lead to severe multi-organ failure, septic shock and even sepsis. The most severe cases of the disease may result in the patient’s death.

To prevent coronavirus, there are a few simple rules to keep in mind:
- wash your hands often, and if you are unable to do so, disinfect them with a liquid based on at least 70% alcohol;
- stay home if you have the option;
- clean or disinfect the surfaces you touch – various surfaces can be contaminated with the coronavirus. Cleaning door handles, barriers, desks, shop counters or handrails is an important element of the prevention of the spread of coronavirus;
- wear a protective mask and gloves on the streets;
- disinfect your cell phone – it is the habitat of many pathogenic microorganisms, and therefore also the coronavirus. Remember to put your phone down while eating;
- keep an appropriate distance from other people – you should stand 1-2 meters from others;
- cover your face when sneezing or coughing – it’s best to cough or sneeze into a handkerchief, and ultimately into the elbow, this will prevent the spread of the coronavirus;
- do not touch your eyes, mouth and nose – this is the easiest way to transfer the coronavirus to yourself;
- remember about healthy eating and proper hydration of the body – during this period it is worth choosing an easily digestible diet rich in vegetables and fruits;
- get information about the coronavirus from reliable sources.
How to keep yourself safe in the queue?
When going to the store, it is obligatory to wear a mask and protective gloves. It is essential in dealing with other people. Also note that different products can become a source of indirect COVID-19 infectionbecause the coronavirus can also survive on a variety of surfaces.
Keep a safe distance in the queue, which is about 1-2 meters from other buyers. If we have such an opportunity, it is best to pay for your purchases with a card.
There are also some precautions you should take when you leave the store. Both the mask and gloves are best removed carefully and discarded. Hands should be disinfected and then put on new gloves and a mask.
