How to keep honeysuckle for the winter
Honeysuckle is a dark blue berry with a sweet and sour taste. It contains many useful substances: calcium and phosphorus, iron and copper, manganese. Thus, the question arises of how to preserve the honeysuckle berries in order to enjoy the gifts of nature all year round. There are several ways in which delicious homemade products are obtained. The main thing is not to delay the processing of berries, as they can deteriorate.
How to preserve honeysuckle: blanks
These berries have antipyretic effects. Also, honeysuckle strengthens memory and is used for anemia. You can cook delicious dishes from it:
- Honeysuckle with sugar. Take 1 kg of berries and mix it with 1,5 kg of sugar by hand or using a blender. Heat the mixture until the sand dissolves, and then pour it into the jars and roll up the lids.
- Honeysuckle jelly. Pour water into a container and mix with berry juice in a 1: 1 ratio. Add soaked gelatin there – 20 g per 1 liter. Boil the liquid for about 5 minutes. Then pour the jelly into the jars.
- Honeysuckle jam. Sprinkle fresh berries with sugar also 1: 1. Wait 3 hours until they produce juice. Now cook them for 6 minutes. Leave the honeysuckle alone for 6 hours. Then cook everything up.
- Honeysuckle juice. Squeeze the berries with a juicer. Add sugar to the resulting liquid to taste and bottle it – sterilize it beforehand. Close containers tightly with lids.
In the future, these blanks can be used to prepare a pie filling or a sweet dessert. Keep jars in the refrigerator if possible.
How to keep honeysuckle for the winter?
Also, the berries are frozen. Before that, select the strongest fruits. Rinse the honeysuckle by removing debris and stalks. You can freeze berries in this form:
- Sugarless. Spread the honeysuckle in a flat container in a layer no higher than 2 cm. Put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, and then put it in the freezer. After a day, place the berries in a bag and put them back in the same place.
- With sugar. Place the honeysuckle in plastic containers in layers. Sprinkle each of them with sand. Don’t put too many berries in there. Close the containers with lids and put everything in the freezer.
If you wish, you can freeze the honeysuckle jam or puree. To do this, you also need to pour the mass into containers, stepping back 1 cm from the edge. Then close them with lids and place in the freezer. So, you can always get the berries out of the refrigerator and have a cup of tea with them.
