How to keep gladioli in an apartment until spring?
Most summer residents live in urban areas, so they have to save flowers in an apartment. Of course, it is quite difficult to create optimal conditions for the bulbs in a living space. But if there is no choice, you can try to save most of the seed. In doing so, you have several options for placing crops.
You can save bulbs in a city apartment in this way:
- On a glazed loggia. To do this, arrange the tubers in one row in wooden crates or cardboard boxes. Place the container on an elevated position, such as a stool or shelf. The main thing is that she does not stand on the bare floor. After the temperature has dropped significantly, be sure to cover the drawers with a warm blanket.
- In the apartment. Find a cool place. This can be a pantry, an entrance hall, a toilet. It is desirable that the temperature here is from +18 to + 20 ° C. Wrap the bulbs in several layers of paper and place in a plastic bag with cut holes for air. After that, leave the flowers until spring.
- In the fridge. The best place to store the bulbs is in the vegetable compartment. But before you send the tubers there, wrap them in newspaper and put them in a canvas bag.
The bulbs do not need special care during storage. But still, periodically take out the tubers and check them for decay. After all, the smaller the lesion, the easier it is to cure it.
