How to keep dill fresh for the winter for a long time
How long does it take to keep the dill fresh?
Let’s consider some variants.
1. First of all, the greens must be thoroughly rinsed under running water, shaken from moisture, and then dried on a towel or paper towel for 10-15 minutes. Now you need to put the dill in a vacuum container and cover tightly. It remains to put the workpiece in the refrigerator.
2. No container found at home? Then another way will do. Instead of a plastic container, you will need a regular glass jar. You can take a liter or one and a half liter, depending on the amount of greenery. As in the previous version, the dill must be washed and dried, and then carefully placed in a jar. Cover with a lid and put in the refrigerator. In this form, the greens will remain for quite a long time, from two weeks to a month.
3. Now let’s look at another storage method. Put the previously washed and dried dill in a plastic bag, tie the bag so that some air remains inside (create a vacuum). On the bottom shelf, greens will stay fresh for 3-7 days.
4. The next method is very popular with chefs. Sort out the dill (peel off spoiled twigs), wash and leave to dry. Take heavy paper and wrap the greens. Moisten the top a little with water (you can sprinkle it by hand), pack in a bag and refrigerate. Ready! One caveat: don’t take newsprint.
5. Another convenient and fast option. Cut the dill stalks, rinse and place in a jar of water (like flowers in a vase). Then cover the top with a regular bag and an elastic band to secure it at the base of the neck of the jar. Refrigerate and enjoy fresh herbs daily! Just remember to change the water periodically.
These are simple ways for every day, but what to do in the cold season, when there is no opportunity to buy fresh dill?
