How to quickly iron curtains made of different materials
The easiest way to iron linen curtains is without additional details. They are ironed slightly damp at the maximum allowable mode.
Other fabrics require more gentle handling:
- Viscose and polyester are ideal materials for window decoration. They can be easily washed from dirt. Iron them carefully, set the temperature to no more than 150 ° C.
- Thin organza curtains are not ironed. They are hung up wet, without wringing or twisting. If, nevertheless, creases have formed, then walk over them with an iron turned on at the lowest temperature through tracing paper or several layers of gauze.
- Taffeta and silk are ironed only on the seamy side without steaming.
- To preserve the embroidery relief on the curtain, moisten with water before ironing, then process from the inside out.
- Velvet is a beautiful, but very capricious material to care for. Dry the canvas completely, then gently, without pressing, run it with an iron without steaming.
- A double-sided dense curtain is ironed, based on the characteristics of the fabrics of each side.
If you are in doubt about which temperature mode to choose, run the iron from the inside out, gradually increasing the temperature. As soon as the iron becomes less smooth, the temperature needs to be slightly reduced and fixed at this level.

This method has several disadvantages:
- a large canvas does not enter completely, you have to lower part of the fabric to the floor;
- you can inadvertently skip sections of tissue;
- the ironed part may wrinkle again.
How to iron curtains without removing them? The easiest way is to use a handheld or floor standing steamer. This is a convenient device that releases steam of different temperatures and powers.
If this is not an option, try ironing the curtains with a small ironing board attachment. Press it firmly on one side of the canvas and run the iron on the back.
