How to install an electric boiler in a private house, in an apartment with your own hands, diagrams, video instructions – ElektrikExpert.ru

Many owners of houses and apartments are increasingly choosing an electric boiler that provides space heating without the use of gas, wood or other fuels.

This solution provides a number of advantages – cost savings, a high level of comfort, serviceability and safety.

Below we will consider how to properly install an electric boiler in a private house, what are the features of its installation in an apartment and other premises.

In the article you will find detailed instructions on how to do the work yourself, useful diagrams and a video describing the technology.

Where are electric boilers installed?

An electric boiler (abbreviated as an electric boiler) is a device for heating heat carriers using electric current. It is used as the main or additional source of heat in an apartment or a private house with and without stove heating.

The equipment is small in size and easy to install. It is completed with a pump for circulation, an expansion tank and automation (for protection, switching on, switching off).

A fuse is provided that turns off the device in case of excess current above the nominal parameter.

The electric boiler is installed in houses or apartments. If possible, a separate room is allocated for its placement in order to exclude access to electrical equipment and water ingress on the surface of the equipment.

To reduce energy consumption, programmers can be installed near electric boilers.

The electric boiler can be placed in the kitchen, in the corridor, in the hallway or other rooms. But here it must be taken into account that a cable and a pipeline will need to be pulled to the equipment, and this creates a number of additional problems.

By the way, you can read separately about electric heating in the house.

Advantages and disadvantages of the installation

Before installing an electric boiler, study the pros and cons of such a step. If you rush to a decision, there is a high risk of disappointment due to high costs, low heating efficiency or other difficulties.

Advantages:

  1. Low price when compared with other types of boilers.
  2. Small dimensions and the ability to save space.
  3. Fire safety. Even in the event of an accident, the appearance of an open flame is minimal.
  4. Ease and convenience of operation.
  5. There are no products of combustion and emissions hazardous to health.
  6. There are no smoke pipes.
  7. There is no need for special maintenance, installation of new nozzles and other work.
  8. Small costs for the installation of an electric boiler.
  9. High level of efficiency, reaching 100%.
  10. Ability to automate the process to maintain the temperature at a given level.
  11. Step power control.
  12. The presence of the GSM control option (in some models), etc.

Installing electric boilers in a private house or apartment has a number of disadvantages.

Main disadvantages:

  1. High level of electricity consumption. To reduce this parameter, you can connect a buffer tank.
  2. Possible power outages in the event of a power outage.
  3. The need for large electrical power.
  4. The presence of scale in the water, due to which the temperature can rise to prohibited values.

Electric boilers have more advantages due to ease of installation, lack of maintenance problems and low cost of equipment. The main disadvantage concerns the dependence on electricity and the high price per 1 kWh in some regions.

Types of electric boilers and selection criteria

When buying electric boilers, pay attention to the variety of types.

Today on sale you can find the following types:

  1. The floor.
  2. Wall mounted.
  3. Shadow.

By type of voltage, single-phase and three-phase devices are distinguished for 220 V or 380 V, respectively. There are also combined models that can operate from a 2 or 3 phase network.

In terms of power, electric boilers are offered from three to nine kilowatts (in 1 kW increments), and then 12, 18, 24 kW and higher (up to 480 kW).

Additional selection criteria:

  1. Width – from 185 to 1060 mm.
  2. Expansion tank – from 6 to 12 liters.
  3. Working pressure – from 0,7 to 30 bar.
  4. Rated current (for a single-phase device) – from 11 to 52,2 A or from 3 to 770 A for three-phase equipment.
  5. Height – from 230 to 1560 mm.
  6. Depth – from 105 to 905 mm.
  7. Type of switching – with an impulse relay, a magnetic starter or a solid state relay. The latter option provides silent operation.
  8. According to the configuration of the circular pump – with or without it.
  9. By the number of contours – with one or two.
  10. By heating area – the minimum range is up to 70 square meters. m, and the maximum – more than 360 sq. m.
  11. Power consumption – from 1,5 kW and above (up to 36-40 kW and more).

Many questions concern the use of the expansion tank, which is an invariable element of the heating system.

Its purpose is to store water in case of heating in the system and further expansion.

Structurally, the tank is a sealed metal case, in the lower part of which there is a hole for connecting to the heating system. At the top there is an accumulator for pumping air flow.

The principle of the device is simple. When heated, the water expands and takes up space in the cavity, and excess air is squeezed out through the membrane. On cooling, the reverse process occurs.

The tank itself is mounted anywhere in the heating system. The main requirement is accessibility and serviceability. At the beginning of operation, it is necessary to check the air pressure and, if necessary, to catch up with the required parameter using a pump.

Separation according to the principle of work

When buying an electric boiler for an apartment or a private house, pay attention to the type of equipment in terms of design and principle of operation.

The following options for electric boilers are available for sale:

  1. TENovye. The operation is based on an electric thermal heater with temperature control sensors and built-in power controllers. The principle of operation is to heat the water in the tank with the help of a heating element and then supply it to the system.
  2. Electrode. Unlike the previous type, the coolant of the system heats up due to the passage of current through the working fluid. The action of the current contributes to the splitting of water into ions coming to the electrodes of a certain polarity. To extend the life of such a boiler, the electrodes must be changed.
  3. Induction. Heating of the coolant occurs due to the Foucault eddy currents that appear in the core of the coil. The latter has a large number of turns. The disadvantages of this option are the large size of the boiler and the high cost, which is not always affordable for users.

In the first place in terms of reliability are electric boilers with heating elements. The weak link is the heating element itself, which requires periodic replacement.

Cheaper is the electrode boiler. But it also has disadvantages – loud sounds when turned on, degeneration of salts in liquids and poor compatibility with warm floors.

As for induction boilers, they have the highest price and a number of weaknesses in terms of reliability. Weak points – periodic phase burnout and a decrease in power by 30-35%. At the same time, it is difficult to solve problems by improvised methods.

The main manufacturers of electric boilers:

  1. 1Bosch Vaillant.
  2. URALPROM.
  3. Kospel
  4. certs.
  5. Evan.
  6. Protherm.
  7. GOD.
  8. STOUT.
  9. Russian.
  10. Thermotrust.
  11. ThermoStyle.

Performance

Before installing an electric boiler, pay attention to its performance.

They differ depending on the type of boilers used:

  1. TENovye. The “weak link” is the heating element, where scale builds up over time. As a result, the efficiency of the heating element decreases. This problem is not relevant for closed systems, where the volume of potentially hazardous salts is minimized. Also, such electric boilers are large, which complicates the search for a suitable place for them to install.
  2. Electrode. Unlike electric boilers with a heating element, they have smaller dimensions. The electrodes dissolve over time. Their condition must be monitored and the failed element periodically changed. As a working fluid, you can use ordinary water, which has a certain amount of salts.
  3. Induction. Unlike their predecessors, such electric boilers are more compact and reliable. The latter fact is explained by the absence of a heating device inside. The coil and controller are on the surface, which eliminates the negative impact of the coolant on them. Only water can be used as the working fluid.

Each type of electric boiler has features in terms of operation, which is important to consider when buying.

Choice for a private house

When buying an electric boiler for a private house, it is important to study all the standard parameters. From the position of voltage, any type of boiler is suitable for voltage – 380 V, 220 V or combined. Here you need to proceed from the number of summed phases.

The second important factor to pay attention to is the heating area. For private houses, the best option is electric boilers from 9 kW or more.

As for the installation location, it is necessary to proceed from the room where the device will be mounted – on the wall or on the floor.

The best floor standing electric boilers for the home:

  1. Evan EPO-42 (floor) – designed for facilities with an area of up to 420 sq. m. There is a four-stage power adjustment, the presence of a special coating on the body to protect against rust. Voltage – 380 V. Working pressure – 3 bar. Depth and width – 52,5 and 52 cm.
  2. Evan EPO-60. Similar equipment designed to operate at a voltage of 380 V, having a power of 60 W and dimensions – 112x52x52,5 cm. Suitable for larger rooms (up to 600 square meters).

  2. Evan EXPERT12 is a new generation stationary electric boiler designed for heating houses and smaller premises. It is powered by a three-phase 380 V network. The model stands out for its low electricity consumption, ease of installation and ease of setup. An expansion tank of 12 liters is provided. Power 12 kW. Operating pressure 0,7 bar. Width and depth 42 and 30 cm respectively.

When choosing a model for a private house, pay attention to other criteria – the type, width, size of the expansion tank, voltage, dimensions, and others (the main parameters were mentioned above).

How to choose an electric boiler for an apartment

When buying an electric boiler for an apartment, less stringent requirements apply in terms of power. So, for a standard area up to 70 sq. meters enough wall or shade devices for 3-4 kW.

The supply voltage should be 220 V, because three phases are rarely supplied to ordinary apartments.

Pay attention to other parameters, such as the type of relay (should be pulsed or solid state for silent operation). Also, the device must be suitable in size and other parameters.

Popular models include:

  1. Sangay with a mechanical remote control. For an apartment, an EVPM is suitable for 3; 4,8; 6; 7 or 9 kW. The device is powered by 220 V. The capacity of the water heater is 3,5 liters. Heating is carried out to a temperature of 85 degrees Celsius. Dimensions 39,5×32,5×16,8 cm. Mounted on the wall. Refers to economy class products.
  2. Geyser 6-9 kW, MRT-15. The ion-type electric boiler is equipped with an electromechanical regulator. It is intended for apartments, change houses and other rooms. It features small size, convenient sensor control and automatic shutdown when the maximum temperature is reached. Operates on 380 and 220 volts. Rated power – 6 and 9 kW, allowing heating up to 250 and up to 375 square meters. m respectively. Weight 6,5 kg.
  3. Evan Next 3-14 kW. The electric boiler is designed for heating apartments, houses and cottages. Often used as a backup heat source (if required). It has the form of a monoblock that combines the boiler and the control panel. To ensure safety, it turns off and turns on the boiler when peak temperatures are reached. The product has a wall mounting type, operates at 220 m 380 V, is quiet in operation, the ability to adjust the temperature of the coolant and a wide power range from 3 to 14 kW.

On sale it is easy to find other models of electric boilers that are suitable for installation in an apartment.

Determination of thermal power

To calculate this parameter, it is necessary to multiply two components – the heated area of the apartment / cottage / house and a fixed parameter of 0,1 kW. The resulting number reflects the need for thermal energy.

Consider the following when calculating:

  1. This scheme is suitable for ceiling heights up to 3 meters. If it is less, the resulting cubic capacity is multiplied by 0,04 W.
  2. If the boiler operates only at night, and a heat accumulator is installed in the system, it is necessary to take a double supply of thermal power.
  3. Choose an electric boiler you need to choose with a margin of 20 percent.
  4. If the device is used for domestic hot water, a reserve of 50 percent or more must be made.
  5. Residents of the northern regions must multiply the quadrature by 0,2 kW. When living in the south, the second multiplier is 0,08 kW.

For example, a house of 200 sq. m requires 200 * 0,1 = 20 kW of heat. The approximate power of the electric boiler should be 20 * 1,2 (20 percent) = 24 kW. If you need water heating for domestic needs, the resulting parameter is multiplied by 1,5. As a result, an electric boiler with 30 kW of heat is required.

Installation requirements

Despite the ease of use, electric boilers are demanding for installation. Incorrect installation may result in reduced heating efficiency, malfunction or equipment failure.

The main requirements relate to the features of installation from the standpoint of further maintenance. So, the heating element is recommended to be installed at a height of 1,5 m from the floor for more convenient maintenance.

Boilers of induction or electrode type are allowed to be placed lower, but only in a vertical position. The voltage can be single- or three-phase, depending on the behavior of the line in the house or apartment.

The advantage of such a device is that there is no need to apply to Elektronadzor to obtain a permit (for power up to 10 kW). The main condition is the presence of a power source suitable for power.

Main requirements:

  1. Disconnect power before carrying out installation work.
  2. Pay attention to the quality of the wall – it must withstand the weight of the unit and the devices connected to it.
  3. Try not to lay heating or plumbing pipes nearby. If there is no other solution, use a box or protective sleeve.
  4. Look at the distance between the electric boiler and the ceiling. It must be 70 cm or more. Also leave a margin of 50 cm on the sides, 70 cm in front and at least 3 cm from the wall to the back of the device.
  5. Operating temperatures for equipment from +5 to +40 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 85 percent.
  6. Do not install electric boilers in places where moisture can get in. This requirement applies to all places for installation – be it a house or apartment, residential or non-residential premises.
  7. When determining the cross section, take into account the real power and the current consumed by the equipment.
  8. The supply of electricity is carried out using switches with open contacts. To avoid a short circuit, the distance between them should be from 3 or more millimeters.

The above are general rules, but there are a number of other points. We will focus on them in the sections below.

Recommendations for installation in a private house

When installing an electric boiler in a private house, try to find a separate room for it. This function can be performed by a pantry, garage or firebox room.

The main task is to protect power equipment from strangers and protect equipment from moisture.

Consider a number of other recommendations:

  1. When using heating elements boiler rooms, a kitchen or a corridor is suitable for placing equipment. The downside is that it is necessary to pull the wire into the room, and this is due to a negative change in the interior. The only way out is to seal the pipes into the wall, but such a step requires a large amount of work.
  2. When fixing the electric boiler to a wooden or other combustible wall, provide a fire-resistant layer between the body and wood, for example, steel sheet or basalt cardboard.
  3. Leave a passage necessary for further inspection and repair of equipment. Place electric boilers with an electrode or induction type so that there is enough space for the pump and expansion tank.
  4. Place the control box at a height of 150-180 cm.
  5. When laying the power cable, make sure that it is above the sewer and heating pipes. This precaution protects against water ingress.
  6. Pay attention that the heating pipeline does not press its weight on the fittings of the units.

After installation, connect the body of the electric boiler to the “ground”. If this is not possible, make a ground loop in the courtyard of a private house and pull the tavern to the room with the boiler installed.

To avoid problems, consider in advance the layout of the equipment and communication elements that will fit it. In this way, future operational difficulties can be avoided.

Schemes for a private house

The stability and reliability of the operation of an electric boiler in a private house or apartment depends on the correct connection.

Depending on the situation, different schemes can be used, designed for typical cases – when installing a boiler with a pumping system, expansion tank, buffer tank, etc.

Let’s highlight the main options:

  1. Heating scheme for a house with forced circulation. The electric boiler is equipped with a heating element with an expansion tank, a liquid circulation pump, air outlet elements and a safety valve.
  2. Heating circuit with a simple device, without a circulation pump and expansion tank.
  3. A simplified version of the use of an electric boiler circuit used as a backup device together with the main boiler and buffer tank. The electric boiler can be turned on at night, provided that two-rate meters are used. The use of a buffer tank allows the accumulated heat to be released for a long time during the day.
  4. Scheme of application of a double-circuit type electric boiler.
  5. Scheme of the organization of heating with underfloor heating and an electric boiler. For wiring underfloor heating, several circuits are used.

When choosing a scheme for connecting an electric boiler, consider the features of the device, the area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe room, the presence of underfloor heating and other points.

Selecting a circulating pump

Most people make the mistake of choosing the first circulation pump they come across. This is wrong, because the efficiency of heating throughout the house depends on the reliability and performance of the device.

The pressure parameter, as a rule, can be ignored. Even for weak and cheap pumps, it is more than two meters. This is enough to ensure the normal operation of the heating system.

A more important parameter is the performance of the circulation pump. For the calculation, prepare the following data:

  1. The total power of the boiler or radiators.
  2. Temperature difference between supply and return. In autonomous heating, this parameter is at the level of 20 degrees Celsius.

To obtain the desired performance, divide the parameter “1” by the indicator “2”, and multiply the resulting number by a factor of 0,86. Use the resulting parameter when buying a product in a store, and if desired, use a slightly overestimated indicator.

Expansion tank selection

For closed systems, membrane tanks are used. They are designed to be filled with a coolant when the temperature rises and the natural expansion of the liquid.

After the temperature rises, excess elements enter the tank and squeeze the membrane.

Structurally, the products are almost always identical, and the main selection criterion is the capacity of the tank.

To define a parameter, follow these steps:

  • measure the total volume of coolant in heating;
  • take 10% of the resulting number – this will be the desired volume.

To obtain information, you can drain the coolant into a container with a known volume. If you filled out the system yourself, this information should be at hand.

Main installation difficulties

Installation of an electric boiler in an apartment or a private house is often associated with difficulties regarding the supply of voltage to the device.

As a rule, the existing wiring is not designed to connect powerful consumers, which requires a separate cable and the installation of an individual machine on the line.

How to choose a circuit breaker read here https://elektrikexpert.ru/kak-vybrat-avtomaticheskij-vyklyuchatel.html.

Pay special attention to the number of input phases. Compact wall-mounted electric boilers with a power of up to 6000 W are connected to a single-phase 220 V network. More powerful models (from 12 kW) require three phases to be connected.

When choosing a cable, pay attention to its cross section, taking into account the power of the consumer. For example, a 2,5-square copper wire is capable of conducting current up to 25 A, which at a voltage of 220 V is 5,5 kW.

If the electric boiler consumes more than this parameter, it is necessary to use a wire of 4 square meters. mm and up. If the device consumes 10 kW, a wire with a cross section of 10 square meters is required. mm etc.

To protect equipment from short circuits, it is important to provide a power circuit using an RCD that controls the amount of current at the input and output. The machine itself and the RCD are recommended to be placed as close to the boiler as possible.

Required Tools

The result and speed of installation depends on the correct preparation for work.

For installation you will need:

  1. Drill with different nozzles for drilling holes for different fasteners.
  2. Plank for mounting equipment.
  3. Elements for fastening and connection.

You will need pipes for supplying and discharging water, as well as a cable of the appropriate section for supplying power.

When connecting the electric boiler with a separate device, you also need a circuit breaker and an RCD, which was mentioned above. Also, do not forget about grounding if the installation is carried out in a private house.

Installation safety rules

Even if you have a diagram and a tool that allows you to install an electric boiler, be careful and follow the safety requirements.

Violation of the rules can lead to equipment damage, short circuit or fire already at the start-up stage.

In addition, there is a high risk of getting under voltage and receiving injuries incompatible with life.

To avoid such consequences, follow the following rules:

  1. Before installing and connecting the equipment, make sure that there is no voltage. Provide a visible break if possible. As a last resort, you can use an indicator or a multimeter to check the power.
  2. Be sure to ground the boiler. To do this, you can use the “earth” tavern in the entrance. In its absence in a private house, one cannot do without installing a ground loop in the yard.
  3. Do not connect the electric boiler to old wiring, the section of which does not correspond to the power of the powered equipment.
  4. Mount the device on a surface made of non-combustible material.

Before installing the electric boiler, collect installation and connection permits, if required.

Preparing the installation site

As for the placement, there are no strict requirements for fire resistance and other parameters. The only caveat is to prevent moisture from entering the device. It is also recommended to install the electric boiler in a separate room.

Additionally, take these steps:

  1. Remove dirt and dust from all surfaces.
  2. Check the integrity of the electrical wiring, make sure that the section meets the requirements of the PUE.
  3. Install an automatic machine and an RCD. When connecting the electric boiler to a 3-phase network, install the machine near the heating equipment.
  4. If necessary, install a pump to pump water through the system. The place of attachment of this device is of fundamental importance.

After completing the preliminary steps, you can proceed directly to the installation.

The algorithm is as follows:

  1. Prepare the hardware for attaching the heating device. As a rule, a mounting plate with dowels is included in the kit.
  2. Make a marking taking into account the existing holes and drill a recess with a diameter of about 10 mm. Next, install the dowels in the holes made.
  3. Fasten the fixing bar and hang the boiler on it, then tighten the screw connection. Please note that mounting hardware may vary depending on the model. As a result, the installation sequence may also change. Detailed information is given in the instructions.
  4. Connect the pipes to the inlet and outlet of the electric boiler. Here you need to take into account the scheme that is used during installation (with or without an expansion tank). The presence of a circulation pump is also taken into account.
  5. Install an expansion tank and a hydraulic collector, if applicable, and piping.
  6. Connect the equipment to the power supply.

For a better understanding, consider the strapping process separately:

  • install the collector;
  • connect to it using a pipe;
  • install a mixing valve at the inlet;
  • on the “return” connect the pumping unit with the installation of a control device;
  • install a sump in the return pipe.

At the final stage, fill the system with coolant and check the entire circuit for operability.

There is no tap between the boiler and the safety group for proper operation

Pipes for electric boilers

Before installation work, determine the type of pipes. In practice, it is allowed to install products made of metal, plastic and metal-plastic.

If preference is given to polypropylene pipes, consider a number of nuances:

  1. When mounting, use pipes with aluminum foil on the surface. The use of such a material compensates for the expansion of the working fluid with increasing temperature and reduces it by two to three times.
  2. Please note that the connection to the heating system must be carried out by a qualified specialist.
  3. Install compensators on long straight sections of pipeline. Here you can use different types of devices – bellows, ring and U-shaped. These elements prevent the pipe from bending when a liquid heated to a high temperature passes through it.
  4. Install straight sections only with movable fasteners, e.g. using sliding clamps.
  5. When laying pipes in strobes, make a small margin, which prevents the destruction of the embedded part when the pipeline expands.

Following these tips allows you to avoid difficulties when connecting and distributing pipes around an apartment or house.

Piping the boiler with the heating system

Small boiler rooms, involving the installation of a wall-mounted electric boiler with an expansion tank, safety units and a circulation pump, are mounted in closed heating systems.

The principle of connection is reduced to the installation of the incoming and outgoing pipeline to the corresponding input and output.

Depending on the situation, different schemes can be used:

  1. Installation of equipment without its own pump and expansion tank.
  2. Parallel connection to the heating system with a solid fuel boiler (possible to use a gas boiler).
  3. Strapping with buffer capacity.
  4. Connection of a double-circuit version of the unit to heating mains and hot water supply.
  5. Combination with an indirect heating boiler.

When choosing a scheme with an expansion tank and an electrode boiler, the piping is as follows:

  1. Installation of an expansion tank at the inlet.
  2. Mud tank and circulation pump, followed by shut-off valves.
  3. Next, the system is connected to the boiler, and from it the coolant goes to the heating system.

By the same principle, an electric boiler with a heating element is connected. In this scheme, there is no expansion tank, pump and safety group.

There is another connection option:

  1. Laying a pipeline with a slope of 3 mm by 1 cm and leading it to two shut-off valves located in parallel.
  2. A sump is connected to one of the circuit taps, followed by a circulation pump and shut-off valves.
  3. Next comes the electrode boiler, and pipes come out of it to the expansion tank and the shut-off valve.
  4. From the last tap, the pipe goes to the heating at an angle of 3 mm by 1 cm.

To ensure normal operation, the distance between the heater and the tank should be about two meters. This means that the tank is taken out to the attic of a private house.

When arranging the elements, consider the following points:

  • install the pump in front of the boiler in the area where the minimum temperature occurs;
  • mount the safety group behind the electric boiler, because there the pressure increases the most;
  • install the expansion tank anywhere, but not closer than 2 times the pump head when installed before it or 4 times when installed after the equipment.

In boilers with heating elements, the main components are mounted in the equipment itself. It turns out a mini-copy of the boiler room is affordable and easy to maintain.

Use a heat storage tank (as an option)

In heating schemes involving the installation of electric boilers, it is not superfluous to provide for a heat storage tank (buffer tank). Such devices are a tank ranging in size from 300 to 2000 liters with nozzles located inside for draining and supplying water.

As a rule, an accumulating capacity is used for heating private houses and using high-power electric boilers.

The purpose of the equipment is to maintain the temperature of the coolant due to the following features:

  • the presence of a buffer zone in the tank, where special partitions are located;
  • thick wall insulation equal to 10 cm.

In the manufacture of such tanks, high-strength metal is used, and structurally, the products are vertical and horizontal.

After connection, the device takes the heat that is relevant after switching on and retains it during equipment downtime.

This effect allows you to smooth out the temperature regime and ensure stable operation of the system.

In addition, the efficiency of energy use is increased by an average of 40%, the service life of equipment is increased, and the amount of harmful emissions and the risk of boiling are reduced.

The scheme of operation of the heat storage tank is as follows:

  • a person turns on the electric boiler at night, when the cost of 1 kWh is less;
  • the device accumulates and retains heat, thanks to a special design;
  • as the water in the system cools, the pump supplies water from the device and thereby maintains the temperature at the proper level.

If you install and connect the equipment correctly, you can maintain comfort for up to two days.

The use of such a container allows you to save electricity, avoid overheating of the boiler, and, if necessary, combine several devices into one system.

You can install a heat storage tank yourself, but it is better to involve specialists for this work.

Electrical connection

If the electric boiler has a power of up to 3500 W, it is connected directly to the outlet. Otherwise, only direct cable connection is allowed.

Install in advance the RCD and the machine through which power will be supplied. Pay special attention to the choice of wire section. When installing the boiler for 6 and 9 kW, a wire of 1,5 square meters is sufficient. mm, for 12 and 14 kW – 2,5 sq. mm, for 18 and 21 kW – 4 sq. mm, and for 24 and 28 kW – 6 and 10 sq. mm respectively. We have already mentioned this above.

The equipment connection scheme is the same in all cases. Only the number of connected phases differs.

When using a single-phase network, connect a phase to any of the contacts, and for a three-phase network – to all phases at the same time after removing the installed jumper. Zero and ground in each of the situations are connected identically.

Ground connection

Powerful electrical installations with a metal case require reliable grounding. This forethought protects a person from electric shock damage. In the event of a phase hitting the body, the machine immediately knocks out.

Depending on the situation, the wire from the boiler goes to a grounded switchboard (if any) or directly to a ground loop on a nearby plot of land.

In the absence of such a circuit, it must be mounted. The installation site must be at least 100 cm from the foundation.

The algorithm is as follows:

  • take a shovel and dig a figure in the shape of a triangle (depth – 50-70 cm, length of each face – 120 cm);
  • prepare corners 210-220 cm long with edges 50 by 50 cm;
  • using a grinder, make a point in the corners and drive them into the ground at three corners of the triangle made;
  • drive in the corners until a small welding height of the horizontal plates remains at the exit;
  • take three metal strips 120 cm long, four centimeters wide and about 40 mm thick, then weld them to the sides of the triangle;
  • weld the grounding (metal strip 4×4 mm) in the nearest corner of the triangle and lead it to the foundation;
  • connect the ground wire from the switchboard or boiler with the bar using a bolt.

At the last stage, fill the trench with earth and tamp it down. This completes the grounding. It can be used not only for an electric boiler, but also for other electrical equipment with a metal case in a house / apartment.

Trial run

After installation and connection, you can start a trial run of the equipment.

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Make sure the integrity of the insulation of wires (cables), pipe connections, couplings and taps.
  2. Run water into the system through a special tap, opening the valve not completely to reduce pressure.
  3. Remove excess air through the air vent. In a number of models of electric boilers, this process takes place automatically.
  4. Look at the device that displays the pressure in the system and compare with the data indicated in the operating instructions. When the technique is turned off, this parameter should be from 1 to 1,3 bar, and when it is turned on, from 1,3 to 2,0.

Remember that in most cases the test run and commissioning should be carried out by a representative of the manufacturer. If you ignore this requirement, you may lose the warranty, or it will be limited to some additional conditions.

important Notices

In conclusion, we highlight a number of points that must be taken into account before, during or after the installation of an electric boiler.

Main notes:

  1. Electric heating gives a result when arranging in medium-sized houses, if there is no gas pipeline near the house.
  2. The use of an electric boiler is considered one of the most environmentally friendly methods of heating, because during its operation there are no combustion products.
  3. When choosing a model, the boiler power is taken in such a way that 1 kW is needed to heat 10 “square” of the area (for rooms with an area of up to 400 “square”). If the area of the heated object is more than 400 sq. m, 1 kW accounts for 10-15 square meters. m.
  4. The electric boiler can be used as the main and additional source of heat.
  5. When calculating, it is important to take into account the thickness of the water supply circuits and the planned pressure. Mistakes in calculations can lead to leaks and flooding.
  6. Plastic equipment has a low level of reliability in the manufacture of highways.
  7. An electric boiler can be introduced into an existing system or a new circuit can be created. When choosing the first option, it is important to clean the entire system of dirt and scale with the help of special compounds or detergent.
  8. If you provide automation, you can reduce the cost of electricity and thereby reduce the payment.
  9. When properly configured, the operation of an electric boiler in a house or apartment is almost silent.
  10. When installing electrode-type devices, additional equipment should be included in the kit, namely a pressure gauge, a check valve and an air vent.
  11. The service life and appearance of the heating element depend on the quality of the coolant in the system. Strive to ensure that the fluid circulating through the system has as little salt as possible.

This is only part of the rules required when installing, connecting and configuring heating equipment. Do not start work until you familiarize yourself with the features of the process and the operating instructions from the manufacturer.
