How to increase blood pressure with herbs. Video
Low blood pressure, unlike high blood pressure, rarely leads to life-threatening complications. However, it can disrupt the usual rhythm of life, reduce efficiency, and simply seriously worsen the general well-being. The traditional home remedy for increasing blood pressure is coffee, but herbs can also be used as an alternative.
Most likely causes of hypotension
Hypotension is a drop in blood pressure to a level of 105/65 mm Hg. and below. There can be many reasons for this, but the most common are:
- dehydration
- blood loss
- inflammatory diseases
- weakness of the heart muscle
- decreased heart rate
- pericarditis (inflammation of the serous membrane of the heart)
- tachycardia
- side effects of certain medications
Before proceeding with the treatment of hypotension with folk remedies, it is important to undergo an examination and find out the cause of the decrease in pressure. Otherwise, by eliminating the symptom, but not curing the underlying disease, you can achieve serious complications and worsening of the condition.
A standard examination includes blood tests (general and biochemical), urine tests, ECG, ultrasound of the heart, consultation with a therapist and cardiologist. If necessary, the doctor may prescribe additional tests.
Herbs that increase blood pressure
There are a huge number of medications and medicinal plants that help to cope with high blood pressure, but there are not so many drugs and herbs that would be effective in the opposite situation. Meanwhile, low blood pressure affects the state of health extremely badly: it can be accompanied by weakness, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and in some cases, for example, in the heat or in the presence of concomitant diseases, even loss of consciousness. That is why it makes sense for hypotensive patients to keep medicinal herbs in their home medicine cabinet, which could help with a sudden drop in blood pressure.
Before using medicinal plants, it is important to familiarize yourself with the list of contraindications to their use, as well as consult a doctor who knows the history of the disease and controls your well-being
Ginseng root is most effective. With its help, even very low pressure can be returned to normal quickly enough. Most often, alcohol tincture is used for treatment, but a self-prepared medicinal decoction will be no less useful. It is necessary to grind the washed and dried root of the plant in a coffee grinder, then pour 3 tablespoons of the resulting powder with two glasses of cold water. On low heat, the liquid should be brought to a boil, then cook for another 5-7 minutes, cool and drain. You need to drink a decoction of ginseng three times a day, half a glass. If necessary, the dosage and the number of doses can be increased, but it is important to monitor the level of blood pressure every hour, even if it seems that the state of health has returned to normal.
Schizandra, Aralia and Eleutherococcus have similar properties. You can brew them separately, or you can combine them with each other, carefully choosing an effective dosage. A glass of water requires a tablespoon of your chosen herb or herbal mixture. They should be insisted for an hour, preferably in a thermos. The filtered infusion must be drunk not only to increase blood pressure, but also as a preventive measure with a tendency to hypotension. Treatment should be started with a tablespoon of a freshly prepared drink; with good tolerance, the dosage can be tripled. In total, you can drink no more than a glass of such infusion per day.
You can make a drink that increases blood pressure not only from medicinal herbs, but also from berries. Aronia compote has a good effect. To improve the taste, you can add honey to it, as well as apples, pears and other fruits. It should be drunk every day in the amount of two to three glasses per day.
You can increase the pressure with the help of an infusion of blueberry leaves, rosemary and lemon balm. Chopped herbs must be mixed in equal proportions, after which a tablespoon of the mixture is poured with a glass of boiling water. An hour later, when the liquid cools down and acquires a rich golden color, it will need to be filtered through cheesecloth or a fine sieve. You need to take such an infusion every hour, two tablespoons. When the state of health improves, the dosage should be halved. It is possible to finally stop treatment only a day after the pressure has returned to normal.
Helichrysum flowers also help to increase blood pressure. They need to be crushed, poured with boiling water (10 g of raw materials per glass of liquid), insist for an hour and strain. You need to drink such a remedy on an empty stomach, two tablespoons 3-4 times a day. If the effect of the treatment is not too pronounced, you can increase the number of infusion receptions, but not a single dosage.
If the herbal treatment does not work for a long time, it is better to stop it and see your doctor again. Perhaps the cause of hypotension is not correctly established, which means that it is necessary to fight first of all not with high blood pressure, but with the underlying disease.
