When the stomach does not function as it should, we experience various ailments: heartburn, abdominal pain, feeling of “overflowing”, nausea. A frequent reason for this is too little production of gastric juice or artificial preservatives that we take with food. If the ailments keep appearing, you should visit a doctor, otherwise we suggest trying to alleviate them using natural, home remedies.
Certain vegetables, fruits and herbs can speed up the secretion of digestive enzymes and thus improve our digestion.
- Use herbal infusions – here you have many options to choose from. There are many herbs that support digestive processes: St. John’s wort supports the formation and release of bile; camomile also stimulates the production of bile and prevents excessive fermentation processes in the intestines; pepper mint improves bowel movements, has a carminative effect and stimulates the secretion of gastric juices; medicinal verbena has a choleretic effect; dandelion supports detoxification of the body and liver function; hop stimulates the appetite; Melisa calms the intestines and increases the secretion of gastric juices; aqueous extract of aloe has a strong laxative effect.
- Apply a warm compress – when we overdo it and make the stomach suffer from a too large and plentiful meal, it is good to act with heat. For example, a towel dipped in warm water and squeezed out, or a hot water bottle, which can be found in many stores and pharmacies, will be appropriate. It should be remembered that the water poured into the hot water bottle should be between 60 and 70 degrees. We fill it to 2/3 of its volume, remember to tighten the cork. Such a compress is applied to the abdomen on the right side for 15-20 minutes.
- Drink the tea – It’s about the usual, bitter one. Thanks to the content of theine, it stimulates the work of the digestive system and the secretion of enzymes, at the same time it has stimulating properties – the whole body, including the digestive system. In addition to theine, there is also tannin in tea, which will be a good way to relieve diarrhea.
- Add spices – also the most exotic ones can improve our digestion. Among the most effective you will find: ginger, which accelerates the body’s detox and stimulates the production of bile juices; black pepper reducing flatulence and improving appetite; chili conducive to calorie burning thanks to the content of caspaicin, which accelerates metabolism; basil relaxing the intestines and supporting the production of enzymes; fennel, which soothes flatulence and stimulates the secretion of bile.
- Take care of the right diet – i.e. avoid what causes stomach problems, and at the same time add to your daily menu products that stimulate digestive and intestinal processes: chicory, pineapple, avocado, bananas, artichokes, squash, olives, black radish, celery, lamb’s lettuce, prunes, passion fruit, tomatoes , blueberries, zucchini.
- Drink apple cider vinegar – it contains pectins and many minerals, thanks to which it accelerates the digestive processes. Although it has a very specific taste and not everyone will like it, you can add it to salads or drink it in the form of a solution – two tablespoons of vinegar per glass of water.
