How to deal with a pinched finger? Should it be immobilized and wrapped in a bandage? What measures should be used? Will compresses help to minimize swelling for a pinched finger? Will painkillers help with pain? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.

How do you heal a pinched finger?

Hello and welcome. My question is about a pinched finger. Unfortunately, I damaged my finger in this way, luckily it doesn’t look like anything serious. My pinched finger is sore and swollen, so it makes it difficult for me to function normally, but I move it normally, so I don’t think it’s broken. I would like to ask you how to treat a pinched finger? Is it enough to use home remedies for a pinched finger just like now, i.e. simply wrapping it with a bandage and immobilizing it, or should I use something else?

Are there any compresses for a pinched fingerthat I could use to bring the swelling down? My friend advised me Altacet for a pinched fingerbut I would prefer not to use any drugs blindly so as not to worsen the situation. Perhaps I should put something on that pinched finger so that it doesn’t hurt so much? I’ve been thinking about painkiller ointments, but I don’t know what to look for and what would be the best for a pinched finger. Thanks in advance for all the tips. Regards

The doctor explains what will help a pinched finger

Hand and foot injuries they happen very often. Probably each of us will happen to be slammed with a door, a door from a finger cupboard and we all remember how painful it is. In the fingers, apart from the thumb and big toe, there are 3 phalanges and joints between them.

The fingertips are richly innervated, therefore any damage to them is manifested by severe pain. Depending on the manner in which the accident occurred and the force of impact, tissue damage may be different. An injury occurs as a result of the direct action of force or indirectly through its transfer to nearby tissues. In the direct field of impact, there is usually damage to the blood vessels and the formation of a haemorrhage, colloquially known as a “bruise”. Usually, we observe tissue swelling and an increase in the heat of the damaged area.

Further consequences of the injury may be stretching or tearing of soft tissues, muscles, ligaments, joint capsule, or a fracture, fracture of a bone, as well as joint dislocation. In the case of fatty liver, in which there is no damage to the joint or large injuries visible to the naked eye, we can refrain from visiting a doctor. It is worth applying a cold compress immediately after the injury. We can reach for painkillers applied topically in the form of ointments, creams or gels. Usually a blue finger will go away on its own. You should not strain the sore spot. In a situation where we cannot move the finger, the shape of the finger has changed, we have a suspicion that the bone may have fractured or fractured, we should see a doctor for help.

It may be necessary to take an X-ray of the damaged area. In the event of dislocation, immobilization and an orthosis stabilizing the joint are used. If symptoms persist, see a doctor. The doctor will collect a detailed interview and examine the patient, which will allow for the selection of further treatment.

The editorial board recommends:

  1. What does back pain on the right show?
  2. How do we age? The first “jump” in my early XNUMXs
  3. How many bones does a person have? The answer to this question is harder than you think!
