How to grow pitsunda pine from seeds?
Be prepared for the fact that growing pine from seed is a difficult, painstaking, but doable task. The seeds can be bought at the store or collected in the forest yourself. Collect buds in the fall or early spring before they open. Put the buds on the battery and they will open in 2-3 days. Then proceed as follows:
- In the spring, before planting, soak the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate for a day.
- Fill a plastic or wood container with earth and plant the seeds in it to a depth of 3 cm. Cover the container with plastic wrap and place it in a warm, lighted place.
- Water the ground daily. Sometimes add a light potassium permanganate solution to watering to increase seedling survival.
- When the seedlings drop the shell, remove the film.
- Grow seedlings in a container until next spring.
Young seedlings have weak roots, so plant them carefully in the ground. They must be spaced at least 10 cm apart. Water and mulch the soil immediately after planting. Young trees will need special care in the next 3 years. During this time, water them regularly, remove weeds, and loosen the soil.
