If you are not satisfied with being content with purchased coffee, it is quite possible to create an entire plantation on your windowsill. How to do this is described below.
First, you need to get a suitable container, namely a flower pot. As for planting any other plant, you need to fill it with soil – slightly acidic, loose and nutritious soil. Now it’s important. You need to buy coffee beans. It is worth noting that you are unlikely to grow anything from fried grains that are sold in the store, so you should go to a specialized garden supermarket for seedlings.
We place the purchased grains in a pot, water them regularly. Within a month you will be able to see the first green shoots. However, your tree will not begin to bear fruit right away. Sometimes this can only happen in the fifth year of life, but the game is worth the candle, right?
By the way, you can grow a coffee tree not only from grains, but also from sprouts. If you buy one in a store, then planting it is not difficult. However, if you decide to choose a twig yourself, then it is best to pluck it from the middle of the crown of the coffee tree, retreating 2-3 centimeters from the bottom pair of leaves. Before planting, the cuttings should be placed in the Heteroauxin solution for 3-5 hours.
Note that the coffee tree is light-loving, but unpretentious in care: it only needs to be watered moderately – two to three times a week. How well it will grow is also influenced by the presence of additional lighting and adherence to a sufficient level of humidity. In winter, the temperature should not be lower than 16-18 ° C, and in summer coffee grows well at 25-30 ° C and not lower than 16 ° C.
The tree needs to be replanted once a year. Periodically, it is worth changing the top layer of soil in the pot. For clarity, we present you a short video instruction on how to grow a coffee tree on a windowsill.
