How to glue an Intex inflatable mattress. Video

Inflatable mattresses Intex are very convenient because they take up very little space when deflated, and after inflating they turn into a full-fledged sleeping place. Sometimes, due to long storage or improper handling, holes appear on such a mattress, making further use of the item impossible. But this is not at all a reason to throw it away. The Intex mattress can be repaired on your own using available tools.

How to seal an inflatable mattress

Before proceeding with the repair of an air mattress, you need to find a leaky spot. This can be done in two ways. For example, fill a large tub with water, lower the half-inflated mattress into it, squeeze it slightly and see where the air bubbles go. For another method of finding the hole that appears, you will need dishwashing detergent and a large brush. It will only be necessary to lubricate the suspicious places with the agent and see in which of them the soap will begin to foam under the influence of the outgoing air.

The found place should be outlined with chalk so as not to lose it again

Repair with the included kit

Usually an Intex mattress comes with a repair kit and a small instruction on how to use it. If there is only one hole to be sealed, no problems arise, you just need to read the manual and do everything as it is written in it. But if there are several leaky places, the situation becomes more complicated, because only 2 patches are attached to the set. In this case, you will have to use the tools available at home.

To repair a leaky mattress, you will need the following items: – glue, – a patch, – sandpaper, – gasoline.

When choosing an adhesive, you should focus on the one that is designed for rubber or vinyl. The usual so-called superglue is not suitable, since it becomes hard and brittle when it dries, it is unlikely that it will be able to hold back the air pressure for a long time. A piece of rubber cut from an old bicycle tire is ideal as a patch.

Before carrying out repairs, it is necessary to deflate all the air from the mattress.

The leaky area outlined in chalk should be degreased with gasoline and lightly sanded with sandpaper, so the patch will adhere better. The next step is to grease the cleaned area and the prepared patch with a thin layer of glue, wait until it is completely dry, and only then, applying another layer of glue, apply the patch to the hole and press firmly. In this case, it is necessary to make sure that no air gap has formed at the bonding site. It remains only to withstand the time indicated on the tube with glue, so that the patch better grabs with the mattress fabric. You can press it down with some heavy object. The “Intex” mattress repaired in this way is able to serve for quite a long time.
