How to get rid of hair highlighting. Video

Highlighting, dyeing hair with strands in tones of different shades, the procedure is quite long, but the result is spectacular. Your hair, even when it is dyed in bright saturated colors, looks more natural, its volume visually increases. But if you decide to paint over highlights made with persistent dyes, this will not be easy.

How to get rid of hair highlights

As a rule, in order for highlighted hair to look natural, one dye of different tones is used for dyeing hair. When dyeing with persistent paints, this is achieved due to different holding times of the colored strands in the dye composition and by using one dye with oxidants of different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide.

In this case, strands of different tones also have a different hair structure, because the oxidizing agent acted on the coloring pigment to varying degrees.

Therefore, the subsequent coloring of the hair, so that all strands have the same color and have the same tone, seems to be quite problematic. However, in cases where the highlighted color was achieved with the help of gentle ammonia-free preparations, it will be much easier to get rid of the uneven color.

If aerosol varnishes or tint dyes were used to achieve a multitone effect, which do not penetrate the hair structure, but only cover their surface with a coloring pigment, you can easily wash off the highlighting, and in 1-2 times you will not even have a trace of it. After that, you can safely dye your hair without fear that the strands will be of different colors.

Such a gentle way to highlight hair is suitable only for blondes and light brown-haired women.

In hairdressing salons, for highlighting light hair, tint foams and shampoos are also used, the coloring pigment of which also does not penetrate deep into the hair structure.

You can wash off the traces of such highlighting with the usual shampooing several times, but if you want to get rid of toning faster, you will need:

  • 2 tbsp. l. baking soda
  • 2 liters of warm water

Wash your hair with regular shampoo, and then rinse with warm water and baking soda diluted in it. Dry your hair and after 30 minutes repeat washing and rinsing. There will be no traces of highlighting, and you can paint again.

It will be more difficult to remove highlights if dyes with oxidizing agents have been used for it. In the case when an oxidizing agent with a concentration of 3% or less was used, the hair will become the same tone only after you wash your hair 20-25 times.

To speed up the process, you can use kefir-soda masks.

For such a mask, you need to take:

  • 200 g fatty kefir
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tbsp. l. table salt
  • ½ tbsp. l. castor oil

Stir all the ingredients, apply this to your hair, put on a shower cap and wrap your head in a warm scarf. Keep the mask for 1 hour, then wash your hair with baby shampoo several times. After a couple of hours, the mask can be applied again, it not only does not harm the hair, but also nourishes it.

Such a mask can be done several times and when more concentrated oxidants were used to highlight hair. When the pigment is discolored and washed off under its action, the hair can be lightened and dyed again after 3-4 weeks.
