How to get rid of flies at home and in the country: proven methods

In the old days, it was believed that flies appear exclusively in those houses where rich and wealthy people live. However, in modern times, a completely different saying has appeared on the topic of what exactly these insects flock to. Be that as it may, flies are carriers of dangerous diseases, and therefore you need to get rid of them. In our article, we’ll show you how to do this.

With the onset of spring, flies begin to become noticeably more active. As soon as the temperature has exceeded 15 degrees Celsius, they begin to crawl out of shelters in search of food. They probably hibernated in the crevices of your house, and therefore they may soon appear from there or fly in from the street. It will be rather difficult for them to fly back, because the flies do not see obstacles due to their reticular vision. However, there are proven ways to help protect yourself from these insects at home.

This simple but convenient remedy not only saves from flies, but also other insects, such as mosquitoes. It is only important to monitor the integrity of the canvas, because if an annoying sparrow makes a couple of holes with its beak on the outside, this will be enough for the insect to fly into the house or dacha. Experts advise putting nets not only on windows, but even on doors. This advice is especially relevant for a country house.

Flies are known to be very sensitive to odors. Some people use this advantage successfully to control these insects. It is enough to take an aroma lamp and add a couple of drops of lavender, citrus, mint, eucalyptus essential oils there. The diffused odor repels flies well. You can also use a clove – you need to pour it into a small container and leave it on the table.

Another effective method is spraying vodka and alcohol around the apartment. It is necessary to add this liquid to the pulverizer and carefully process the apartment.

One of the most common insect control methods. Traps are sold in hardware stores in a variety of forms. Some in the form of adhesive tape, others in the form of a bottle with bait, and others in the form of electric shock. The essence of this device lies in the fact that a fly, having sensed a scent that attracts it, flies towards it, and then falls into a trap, from which it no longer has the ability to get out.

In addition to smells that affect flies, there are mixtures that can scare them away. There are several proven folk recipes. They can be made easily and simply at home. So, you can take 1 g of saccharin and 10 g of honey, soak the paper with the resulting mixture and put it on the windowsill.

Equally effective is a mixture of black pepper with milk, as well as formalin, soda and kefir, mixed in equal proportions. It can also be used to coat pieces of paper and place them in a prominent place. By the way, there are commercial mixtures that can poison flies, but it is important to be careful with them, because if children or pets get to them, poisoning cannot be avoided.

The easiest and most convenient way is to buy a flycatcher plant. For example, the succulent Pinguicula gigantea. He catches insects on his sticky leaves and does not let go of captivity. There is another flower that came to us from England – Dionaea muscipula. Its leaves serve as bait for flies. As soon as the insect touches them, the cup slams shut, as if eating its prey. This can be clearly seen in the video below.
