Fish and dishes made from it have a very rich smell, which not everyone likes. When cooking fish dishes, no extractor hood will save – this smell will be absorbed into everything around – into your clothes, kitchen towels, dishes … Well, of course, the smell should not be a reason to refuse fish, you just need to know how to get rid of it.
There are some tricks to help you do this:
- Place the fish in vinegar and water for a couple of hours before cooking.
- When keeping fish in the refrigerator, pack it as tightly as possible.
- Highlight a separate board and knife for butchering meat and fish.
- After use, rinse the cutting board and knife with water and vinegar.
- The smell of fish instantly eats into the dishes, so after the fish it must be immediately washed with detergent.
- To prevent the smell of fish from remaining on your hands, wipe them with dry mustard or rub the zest of lemon or orange in your hands.
- To get rid of the smoked fish smell, thoroughly dry your hands with beer, and then wash them with soap and water.
- When you need to quickly get rid of the fishy smell in the kitchen, grate the zest of lemon or orange, and in the kitchen boil water with vinegar – such aromas will replace the smell of fish.
- For the same purpose, if you have coffee beans, fry them in a skillet – this will fill the apartment with a pleasant coffee aroma.
- If things and fabrics are soaked in an unpleasant odor, before washing, soak them for some time in water with vinegar, at the rate of 2 tablespoons per 5-6 liters of water.
