Are your shoes too small in the evening? Can’t remove rings without soap? Are you trying to lose weight but the weight isn’t coming off? Perhaps the edema is to blame. We will show you how to get rid of them quickly.
Causes of edema
There are a lot of reasons for the occurrence of edema, we list the main ones.
Lots of liquid
Are you a water drinker and like to have tea before going to bed? There is so much water in the body that the excretion systems do not have time to get rid of the excess.
Unbalanced diet
If the basis of your menu is salty, smoked, sweet dishes, then it is difficult to avoid swelling. Such foods provoke intense thirst, since both salt and sugar retain water. And so you drink, drink, drink – and then see the previous paragraph. Fans of a water or juice diet are also at risk – they also drink more than they need.

Standing or, conversely, sedentary work
Legs often swell in those who are forced to stand for a long time at work. Or constantly sit – for example, at the computer. The situation is aggravated by a genetic predisposition to venous insufficiency, uncomfortable chairs, high heels and the habit of sitting cross-legged.
Premenstrual syndrome
These edema appear clearly on schedule, in the second phase of the cycle. Water retention in the body is associated with the action of various hormones, including progesterone.
Intoxication
Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, exhaust gases – each of these agents poisons the body in its own way. And he is forced to resist, “forcing” the liquid into the organs and tissues in order to dilute and quickly remove toxins.
Pregnancy
Edema during pregnancy is not uncommon, especially in the third trimester. Main reasons:
increased load on the kidneys;
the action of hormones that disrupt the water-salt balance;
the growth of the uterus, which compresses the vessels in the abdominal cavity, which, for example, can cause swelling of the legs.

Kidney problems
Consult a nephrologist if you regularly see a pale, puffy face in the mirror with severe puffiness under the eyes. Due to improper functioning of the kidneys, fluid stagnates in the tissues. Edema keeps for a long time, go away with great difficulty.
Heart diseases
Shortness of breath, bluish complexion, swelling in the late afternoon on the feet, thighs and even in the abdomen – if you have these symptoms, urgently see a doctor.
How to get rid of excess fluid in the body
If swelling occurs regularly, be sure to consult a doctor to rule out serious illness. In all other cases, a balanced diet, fitness and beauty treatments will help.
With regular physical activity, the work of the whole organism is activated, including the systems and organs responsible for the elimination of toxins.
Diet
Limit your intake of sweet, smoked, spicy foods. But first of all – salty: in most cases, it is salty foods that are to blame for swelling. The recommended amount of salt is 5-6 g (1 tsp) per day. This is something that can be added to soup, porridge and other dishes. However, it is important to consider that salt is also found in bread, cheese, olives and many other prepared foods.
Eat more foods containing potassium. Unlike sodium, this trace element does not retain, but, on the contrary, removes excess water from the cells. There is a lot of it in cereals, vegetables, fruits and dried fruits. Most of all – in bananas and dried apricots.
Follow the drinking regime. On average, a person loses about 400–600 ml of fluid through sweat and breath, and about 1,5 liters through urine. And if you drink less than 1,5 liters of water at the same time, the body will begin to save, create fluid reserves, taking it into the intercellular space – and here they are, edema.
The daily rate of water consumption is calculated by the formula 30 ml per 1 kg of body weight. That is, with a weight of 60 kg, it is recommended to drink at least 1,8 liters of water per day. At the same time, 2 hours before bedtime, fluid intake should be stopped.
