How to get rid of depression on your own

With the onset of cloudy days, we are increasingly moping, attributing fatigue and bad mood to the weather. But these symptoms can also indicate the beginning of the autumn depression, which to one degree or another is experienced by about 40% of the population of our country. How to recharge with optimism, WDay.ru found out.

How to get rid of depression on your own

Most of the people who fall into depression in the fall are women: they are more sensitive than men and have less emotional strength. The thing is that the fair sex produces worse serotonin – the “hormone of joy”, which to a large extent determines the psychological stability of a person.

If the blues have stalked you for more than two weeks, chances are good that you are close to depression. So it’s time to take action!

Coloring!

Depression sufferers often complain that they have a painful feeling that bright colors are disappearing from their lives. It’s time to put them back in place! In this, firstly, natural preparations can help, which, for example, “Deprim”, stimulate physical and mental activity and help to improve mood. And secondly, you can paint your life with your own hand.

What to do: add bright details to the interior – hang funny curtains on the windows, lay beautiful napkins on the table, glue a cheerful poster on the wall. And be sure to work on your wardrobe. A couple of funny little things will quickly dilute the usual depressive colors of our autumn clothes. Choose life-affirming reds, oranges and yellows to remind you of the sun.

Light, even artificial light, has a beneficial effect on the body and improves mood.

Let’s light it up!

Autumn blues are directly related to a lack of sunlight, because it stimulates the production of serotonin. Artificial light cannot be a complete substitute for the sun, but it can support the body and improve mood.

What to do: light the light (table lamps and chandeliers) and, of course, candles, because living fire has a beneficial effect on the nervous system. Try not to miss a single fine day as soon as the sun comes out – rather, substitute your face pale with sadness. And try to get up early so that not a minute is wasted from such a short autumn daylight.

Dancing, running and even singing loudly will quickly get rid of the blues.

Let’s move!

Did you know that you can escape from depression? Moreover, in the truest sense of the word: physical activity helps to relieve nervous tension and promotes the release of endorphins into the blood, which are “responsible” for positive emotions.

What to do: run, jump, dance, do aerobics, muay thai or chinese gymnastics – do whatever your heart desires. Your decisions and actions should bring you joy – this is the main principle that should guide you when drawing up a personal program to combat depression. Be sure to add a paragraph about healthy eating with an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits. Do not forget about your favorite hobby, for which you must definitely take time out of your busy work schedule.

And most importantly, communicate more often with people you truly love. And you will see: gloomy autumn is just a state of nature, but not a state of mind: in our inner world, eternal spring can reign at any time of the year.
